I recently bought an intake off a member on this forum. (Simota whale penis) and after i installed it it was fine idling, but then later while i'm driving and leave it in neutral, the revs go up and down.
Does anyone know what went wrong ? The stock intake was alright, nothing was playing up, only until i put in the simota intake.

Something's wrong with the throttle body/idle valves

Search up rev hunting.

Good luck

Its one of your sensors. Check all the wiring etc

Everything's in properly, what ever i took out put them back in onto the new intake.

hey benny, put back the stock intake to make sure it doesnt do the same thing as it does when the simota one is on....u might have left a hose disconnected making the engine hunt

Yeah i have, i put the stock one in and it's fine. That's what i mean, not quiet sure what's going on. Unless the hose isn't in properly, would it cause it to hunt as you mentioned ?

yeah double benny if the hose is connected property and put a hose clamp on so theres no air leaks :)

your problem is the actual sensor thats connected to your intake arm. u need that plugged in.

Yeah, that sensor's in for sure. Cos when it's not in, engine light shows up. Not sure if it's the other hose, cos it's already in.

get some soap and water and spray it around that area see if theres any bubbles for air leaks man

Hey guys, nothing seems to be fixing the problem. Would resetting the ECU do much ? As i've seen before it's better off resetting it when doing any mods to the car.

Yea try it. Disconnect the negative terminal for about 5-10mins

man ive got the same problem. ive replaced all my sensors, reset the ecu, double checked all my houses and connections. i have an eg so i dont have a sensor going into the actual piping. i found that omce i disconnect the senaor behind my tb it cuts out the hunting. but i dont want to risk running the car that way.

the car still does it. i put the stock airbox in and its all good. ive got a cai, its got no leaks at all. after a few months my car was fine, it stopped doing it. and now it only does it when the engine is cold, then runs with no problems. ive had 2 different mechanics look at it and both couldnt resolve it. dont wana hijack ur thread but im also in need of help..

might sound dumb, but the air temp sensor may not be in the right place, with alot of after market intakes sometimes it moves the sensor closer or further away from the throttle body.

mesure the distance from the throttle body to the air temp sensor and see if its the same as when stock.

being in the wrong position it could be reading the air temp wrong and the ecu may miscalculuate fuel ratios.

let me know if this helps.

Cheers for that Backyard, sounds good. Although it stopped happening for a while now. But im sure it might come back, will check the sensor.
