Aim: To remove any rust
Required: Sandpaper x2 (200+ grit and less than 200 grit)
Primer
Coloured Spray paint (auto1 and super cheap sell paints that match ur car paint code)
Clear top coat
Masking Tape
News Paper

Steps: Roughly Mask Around area where there is rust. This is so you do not sand n e more that U really need to.

Using ur rougher sand paper, sand the area where the rust is visible until u cant see anymore rust.

Once all rust is removed, use the 200+ grit sandpaper to smoth out the area. Once the are is smothed, wipe residue with a dry cloth.

Remove the roughly applied and re-apply masking tape correctly and use newspaper to mask the car from over spray.

Now apply 1-5 coats of primer to the area (allow atleat 5 min between coats or refer to primer canisters instructions)

After final coat of primer allow 1hr before lightly sainding with 200+ grit for smoothness (again refer to primer instructions if in doubt)

Use a dry cloth to remove sanding residue

apply 2-4 coats of touch up spray paint alowwing 5-10 min between coats

5-10 min after final paint coat, applly 2-3 coats of clear coat.

allow 30 min for everything to dry then remove all masking slowly

Now ur done

Other comments: You shouldnt wash/polish for 5-7 days after painting.

You may also want to was car before comencing this, but make sure all is dry

Nice work!

What about the region between where you sanded back/painted and the original paint. Is there a noticable difference?

PS: You can host the images in the gallery for more permanent hosting.

You can get touch up paint from most auto shops (most common would be Holts Duplicolour) but their range is quite limited...just look up ur paint code in their reference book.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but cant automotive paint shops also put mixed paint into a spray can???

There is a noticable diffrence between the old paint and the new. Not really in colour, but u can see a line where they meet. I painted up until the bend in the wheel arch so that this line would be inconspicuous. :)
I'll try and take up a close up pic of the line. Best u can do for total of like $30

when putting on clearcoat, remove the sticky tape and masking, then blend in the clear. this prevents a 'tide' mark.
