hey guys! i was trying to uninstall my coilovers out of my DC5 yesterday and i got all the bolts except i couldn't get the coilover off the tie rod i know its hard to get off, but i hit it with a mallet pretty hard and it wouldn't budge...does anyone have any ideas how i can get the coilover off the tie rod? it was so fustrating especially putting all the bolts back as i couldnt get it off!

thanks in advance!

Get a ball joint puller, you could stuff the thread up hitting it with a hammer

Thanks for the reply, yep i saw that diy and followed it pretty closely and used a mallet to hit it out, but wouldnt move a mm...might have to look into a ball joint puller or some other alternative

mate

remove the 17mm crown nut + pin
spray a good amount of WD40 or RP7 or similar in around the joint. Let it sit for a bit.
Next grab a big metal hammer or mallet - and hit the SIDE of the suspension arm....right near where it connects to the tierod end. Give it a few hits , check the tierod end to see if its loose. Repeat until its loose ( larger hammer = quicker)
