Becaue over a rather short period of time it will discharge and become useless :)

Found this out the hard way while in the process of chaning a mates starter motor in his celica (mind you the fact that the car hadn't been started for 3 weeks before that didn't help!).

apparently its best , to leave a battery , suspended with no part of it touching anything to let it last the longest while sitting ...or atleast , store the thing on a wooden shelf or something.

Gosh yes....if you are lettign you car , sit for any period of time - say longer than a few days atleast disconnect your battery - even better to remove it and store- or to leave it on charge

yep...when I went to Europe for 3 weeks I removed my battery and placed it on an upside down milk crate....no probs when reinstalled .....I am hoping my bro's battery is dead when he gets back from the US in about 3 weeks...he left it in the car...his choice, and with me being evil, I want the battery to die to prove my point:D....I did suggest it to him, but he's lazy.......

EIther that or just ask someone to start it 2-3 times a week and run it for around 20 mins
