Hey,
Im just about to buy a 1997 Integra, with a jap b18c engine swap. The gearbox has not been swapped over. Is the gearbox much weaker than the type r gearbox?

not sure if its weaker but type R i believe have better synchros.
What i do know is type R gbox have closer gear ratios and depending on what year, have a 4.4(pre 98) or 4.7 (post 98) final drive.

DC2R gearbox is the best B series box for the integra, whether it be B18C/2/7 mainly due to it's 4.7FD and close ratios. also you'd expect it to be built stronger then the ones that came on the B18B/C2 because the DC2R puts out more power/torque and revs higher, also I think it was meant to be a car that you can buy and track without further mods, so I guess it would at least be built to handle that sort of driving well.
however I don't have proof that it is a lot stronger, but with that sort of logic you'd think it would be at least.
