Don't forget to look at the bottom half of that graph also.

true, take note of it. i lost a fair bit of low end with the 2.5" system. but it was worth it IMO. when you are pushing it the car lives int the rev band from about 5800-8000. so it's all good for drag racing, or tracking...

lost a little bit of urge around town though. but thats doesn't worry me.

as a general rule of thumb you would lose either top-end or low end...in a perfect world you could gain both...if not maintain power output....

a larger ID (inner diameter) B-pipe is what you really want as VTEC likes to breath...

lots and lots of secret stuff

nah... just a header, intake and exhaust. tacked on some pvc piping as cold air ducting to my stock airbox. changed the paper filter for a k&n filter (ru2820 from memory). i am going to get new secondaries made up for the header, i'm going to ask them to make them shorter and go into a 2.5" collector, rather than the 2" one that is on there at the moment.
cams and cam gears on order... and i'm still deciding on what route to go down in the way of electronics. powerfc, unichip, chipped ecu, etc.

Slim,

Are you going to keep the car or keep doing it up?

ginganggooly
01-09-2003, 11:16 PM
i'll probably stop after i finnish the next lot of work... i'm more or less happy with the handling setup. and i think there will be enough power to keep me happy when the cams are installed and tuned.

if you don't plan to do too much to your car, a 2.25" system will give you good power throughout the rev range.

yep, check the dyno plots, there seems to be a jump in power around where the secondary runners open up. otherwise the 2.25" system was better.

next week i'll change the collector and secondaries on the header, i'll get back to yas with a dyno sheet hopefully.

What headers are you running? Is it still what liverpool mufflers put in?

4-1? or 4-2-1?

ginganggooly

4-2-1. yep, gen-u-ine hurricane header :D

Have you thought of going 4-1 custom made? (as they don't manufacture 4-1)

i have a set of mugen replica's 4>1 that i made 120 odd kw atw with (with other mods) - let it go for 450 if ya want it... its for b series - i had it own my dc2R

if you can..

try and get a set of "dave flood" headers..by far the best..

can be seen on Aus' fastest N/A Fwd and on the Autosalon N/A dyno comp winner (DC2R)

4-1 are the best for 'B' series hondas

he's running a livo exhaust header too. dave flood modified it for the owner. at least thats what dave flood told me ;)

i asked him to make me a set about 2 months ago, but he was busy and never got back to me...

why pay 1200++

when 850 can get u a jdm oem 4-1 with heat shields?

or 1000 can get u a mugen replica?

ginganggooly

i think dave flood's header would be the go if you were planning to do other mods to the car. the fact he can take into account things like changed redlines, cams, compression and all the other little things involved in doing a serious build up means that he could make something specific for your machine. think of it as comparing a pre-programmed chip to a programmable ecu.

back when i was shopping around for a header, the jdm 4-1 version was extremely hard to find and over 1k.

who actually makes the mugen replica?

as i said, i'm lettin my mugen replica go for sub $400... a $1000 hmm wher'd ya gew that figure...

I was running a Dave Flood modded Livo header. But now I'm running a header that I made myself. It made 11 whp more than the old header. I'm sure Dave could make a header from scratch that would make the same improvement as mine......maybe more.....who knows

Going from the old header to my one, I went from 13.3 to 13.0

I can probably do it through a friend of mine who owns a floor polishing business for about $10-15 but will have to double check. This will not be door to door but pick-up from a point...

I'll double check everything for you, remind me with a pm and I'll give you my details!!!

It might take a bit longer for things to get done at liverpool exhaust because they have plenty of customers but I like the people there. I've been back a few times to weld bits and pieces and they haven't charged me because they remember I keep coming back :)
