I have a 2007 Accord Euro,

Just called Motors-Honda in Burnie Tasmania and asked for a price on 1 x replacement key. (Only got 1 when i bought the car)

Cost: $383!!!!!! ($253 for key, $130 for coding)

Are you F**king kidding me!!!!!

This cannot be right..... what other options do i have?

Yup, from a dealer that sounds right to me. The first thing the dealer did when he handed over the 2 keys for my car was say - Don't lose them, replacement keys are a ripoff.

You might be able to get a blank key somewhere cheaper, but you'll still need the dealer to encode it.

Deal with it

-.-

I got a replacement Acura Switchblade for $125 landed, $35 cut.

Called around different dealerships quoted $80-110 for coding and programming the immobiliser. Got lucky and spoke to the service manager at one and he said that he's not going to charge me for a programming the key as it's a quick job provided I have it cut already.

Do you know what Motors-Honda in Burnie Tasmania said once they got off the phone ?

".....haitim01 getting quote for replacement key cost - what a TIGHT ASS !!!..."

My point is you get what you pay for. If $383 for 1.an oem part/service and 2. something that happens once in a cars lifetime is too much money for you - good luck getting it done elsewhere for alittle less $ but notably less quality.

Sorry Mate no sympathy from me... As one of the guys said above... when dealer hands the key over they say "NEVER LOSE IT or it will cost dearly".

Also agree with what Ben said as well... You pay for what you get... I'd much rather Quality then to have some mister mint re program my key... thats even if they can do it.

That's unfortunate OP.
But i guess the only choice is to get it properly done by the dealers. You don't wanna risk something big just to save a few bucks now.

to OP - you are buying an OEM part $385 seems to be in the ball point,

Whoops, that's right.

Acura keys only work with CU2. Incompatible with CL9.
