Hey guys, i drive a 1998 honda civic ek1 and have had it for about 2 weeks now and recent owners said they've never had a problem with it.
Yesterday when trying to drive home from a friends place, i was unable to get it into gear 1 whenever the engine was running. i eventually managed to force it in and get home and then checked and found out that i was out of the clutch fluids. i told my dad and he changed it for me and its been about a few hours, and ive tried pumping the clutch and everything but i still cant get it into gear.
anyone know anything i can do to fix it myself or just gotta go see a mechanic?

no there's no leak, me and my friends thoroughly looked for any and couldn't find anything.
i checked the cap and poured in the correct fluids and everything and just went to check and theres still plenty in there but still no progress

did he bleed the air?
How is the clutch pedal? is it going the same as before ?
Is it only for 1st gear or all gears?

yeah went to a mechanic with a friend and explained the situation and they said i needed to bleed the air.
the clutch isn't going the same as before, and i noticed a difference in my friction point when i was driving last night. it was all gears even reverse

Either there is still an air bubble inside or the clutch pressure plate is worn out/damaged.

Check and bleed the air first. you need 8mm to open the nipple

step 1. find another person to push on the pedal about 5-6 times and hold it there.
step 2. remember that clear tube on the nipple there?? make sure the end is in the bottom of the clear bottle this prevent air getting back into the system when you close the nipple.
step 3. open the nipple and let the fluid and air out. it should bubble out means air is leaving the sys.
step 4. close the nipple do the 2 more times and make sure you check and add fluid in the master cyl.
step 5. when the bubbleing stops and fluid is going out in a steady stream means you system in now air free!! your padel push should be close to factory or better

And the pedal isn't going soft?

Thats weird, the clutch would go soft and would be easy to push in without any force on it. But the problem has been figured. Just make sure you bleed the clutch fluid right and fill it up right too. I saw my mechanic bleed it and I had to pour the clutch fluid in just to make sure theres no bubbles and worked fine.

Hmm just realized we typed it the same. I like lowercase for stating the model. Nice point out though

My daughter had one of the springs fall out of the clutch plate of one of those.
It fell out while sitting stationary, in neutral. When she tried to put it into gear, no clutch, as the spring sitting in there stopped the pressure plate compressing.
It was a clutch out job to fix, but only required a new driven plate, the pressure plate was fine, & has done a couple of years work since. Very cheep repair if you can do your own spanner work.
