i have a kicker zx700.5 and it stays in protection mode even when all speakers are unplugged and it is just power, ground and remote. i gave it to a friend who is an electrical genius and he couldnt find the problem just wanted to see if anyone has ever had a problem like this and if they fixed it or know a place that can fix it would be very appreciated.
thanks

Some amps will go into protection without a load on the terminals. Wire up a speaker, see what it does, and make sure the ground is good. Qhat size wire you using?

"a friend who is an electrical genius and he couldnt find the problem" lol the irony...
take it to a specialist so they can physically diagnose & solve the problem in person. itll save us from having to ask too many questions & pictures. that is all.

this friend is an electrical engineer and knows just about everything u can about electricals andd the point of the thread was to ask if anyone knew any specialist for kicker amps. the wiring is 4 gauge and i have had it plugged in with all speakers as well as none so has my friend. hooked it up to the voltmeter and couldn't find the prob.

perhaps its time to take it to a specialist, just to rule out that its not an installation problem. or another auto electrician to make sure the electrical system is up-to-scratch. dont think having the speakers connected or not makes a difference in this case.. it sounds to be purely an electrical problem, one that could be solved easily no doubt by your friend if he had another look.
if things aernt resolved then it may possibly be a faulty amp.. whats the history of the amp? how long have you had this amp for & how long has this been a problem? bought second-hand? if not, still covered by warranty? is taking it back to the place of purchase and discussing it with them an option? or try getting in contact with kickers 'technical support team'.

as mentioned, check your ground/earth & fuses then 'fix' if need be. hopefully this solves it but if not then at least you'll rule out 1 of many possible 'installation problems'. good luck!
