I have done the 20,000Km/12 months service today, and it cost me $197 only, and free installation of the exhaust pipe finisher (one of the Jazz accessories)! May be different state have different price!

I quoted John Blair's Honda (Prahran) several months ago for 20000K service. They gave me $320... wtf?!?!
That's one reason why I had to cancel and source to another service station (UltraTune). It cost me almost half the price with my service book stamped.

I guess Honda doesn't have a standard price now....hmmm.... interesting....and suspicious....

Shouldn't the 30kkm service be around the same price as 10kkm? It was so long ago I can't remember... :)

I recently had my 80,000km service done at Collins (rockdale).. it was around the $400-500 range from memory. They are expensive, but do a really good job. (After years of messing around with dodgy mechanics I am happy just to pay the extra..)

Where about do you work? Some offer valet service where they pick up your car for services and return to you when done... Not sure if there is a limit in distance.

actually, for an auto car, if u allways run on free way or highway, the fuel consumption is lower then only run within a city or town. Coz' an auto car takes many fuel when braking!

I thought for all brand new cars is first service free... had 3 different cars, all first service was free for me...

It's essential to get checked and oil/oilfilter changed at 1kkm... It's like making sure the brand new car has no faults...

oh well, too bad for those guys who didn't get for free. just mention it to them next time you get a new car.

i think it all depends on the dealer - whether or not he wants to offer 1st service for free. i certainly didn't get it for free .. but it's not that expensive though, as compared to a 10000kms or 20000kms servicing.

Yes I agree with you. My Jazz is bought in larke hoskins Homebush, and the first service (1000km) is not free for materials like Engine Oil, Oil filter and they charge for the detergent on the windscreen too~~ :thumbdwn: what the f......
and they didn't stamp my log book ...i gotta ask them to stamp it on 5k km and I will go to other Honda dealer for servicing for SURE. god bless LH homebush ....

jefflei - if you don't mind travelling a bit, you can check out Hanny's Performance in Smithfield (Victoria Road). they are very popular with Honda owners in Syd.

I sent my car there for oil & oil filter change last Saturday. Very fast (got there early so need not wait). Cheaper than what the dealer charges for similar work. Most importantly, they know what they are doing.

Hey guys... u guys know that u can bring ur own engine oil and get the dealer to put that oil for u instead of buying the honda crap oil... (thats my personal view of honda oil)....my fren works at a dealer... for services they really do nothing except changing ur oil and oil filter... and charge u heaps of money... might as well go to other places (like ultra tune) and get their stamp... Ultra tune claim that their stamp is as good as honda stamp, not void honda warranty....

MRFIT
14-02-2005, 11:12 PM
well..... I watched the Best Motoring VTEC club, the guy that owns Spoon said that the Honda engine oil is actually quite good.......

I agree the dealers are making at least 50% profit by doing the service, but when it comes to re-sale value, Dealer stamp is worth alot more than Ultra tune.... :)

zimp13 - what do you not like about the oil?

and yes . .labour costs are expensive. also there is the $15 environment levy the dealer charges for disposing oil. :p

oil & filter change is relatively straight forward. u just need a good set of jack stands, ,car jack and filter wrench. i'm gonna do the oil change myself and only bring the car in for major servicing (eg 10000kms, 20000kms etc .. )

Garry and Warren Smith: $215
Courtney and Patterson: $219
Eastern Honda Doncaster: $205

so I guess not all services are cheaper in one dealer...... really have to ask around each time around..... cos for my 20,000km service, the quotes were:

Garry and Warren Smith: $279
Courtney and Patterson: $215
Easter Honda Doncaster: $235

zimp13 - what do you not like about the oil?

Not that i dont like honda oil... how many people that you know uses honda oil compared with the aftermarket fully synthetic oil? Secondly, there is just not enough info of honda oil i guess. Even those that works at Honda dont really know much about the oil. Finally, i always think that car manufacturers concentrate on manufacturing better cars rather than investing in R&D on their oils. I believe that most car manufacturer's oil are mineral based oil as well. :D

MRFIT, I dont really agree with u that with dealer stamp your resale value is better. I have been here long enough to know the market. Once u try to sell ur car, no one will say "u service at honda, pay u more". Trust me on this one, i have sold quite a few cars here. Plus lets say u are rite, u service at honda and get better resale value. How much more? 2K?3K? think the money u spend with honda, easily that amount anyway. For warranty sake, yes, $%$%^&^$# no choice. But as for now, my last 2 new cars, never went to the dealer. Anyway, i kept them for 2-3 years and sell, condition still good, got stamped from different service provider, spent the money on modifying the cars rather than contributing to the dealer, the buyers also happy to see the mods on the car. In Australia, really not worth, car is cheap, but resale value is not good. Nothing anyone can do to change that. :p OOPPss.. talk too much..... :D

I rang up three dealers today for quote for 30,000km service:

Garry and Warren Smith: $215
Courtney and Patterson: $219
Eastern Honda Doncaster: $205

so I guess not all services are cheaper in one dealer...... really have to ask around each time around..... cos for my 20,000km service, the quotes were:

Garry and Warren Smith: $279
Courtney and Patterson: $215
Easter Honda Doncaster: $235

Courtney and Patterson is still among the cheapest for both 20k and 30k services....Are they good? Has anyone been there for services yet? Please tell me. I may go there next time. Do they open on Saturday??

well, Courtney and Patterson has just had their brand new service department openned up..... the place is huge and very clean..... the price is good, and they can drop you off within a reasonable range.... I personally like it, especially because I live about 5 minutes away..... :)

But Eastern Honda washes and vacummes your car..... :)

a touch cheaper than us.... but we do a better job :p
all dealers will vary slightly in what they include for the service, most would have extras they do that are not in the book
