Just wondering if its worth it or not, and what the NSW law is to P plate drivers and aftermarket intakes,

Thanks

I was looking at that one. Called up shift performance and tried to get them to price match for me. Lols. They told me it a fake simota, hence the cheap price.

But at the end of the day imo, it not a bad price for a intake.

What you can do is buy it and change to a better Filter K&N.

It'll be fine. Even if it's a fake it'll probably perform just as well as a 'genuine' piece of plastic/aluminium piping.

K&N or 3A Racing or Fujita for air filter.

i got that on the D16Y1 made some difference.
bought a J's Racing one and i cant really tell the difference in power and response wise.

ebay whale intake (plastic) $100 bucks
J's racing whale intake (CF) $300 plus from memory

whats also was good is the ebay one had a bracket so you pod doesn't flip flop around. where as the J's Racing that i got didn't.

So just buy an aluminium strip from Bunnings, cut to size, twist, bolt to your bay, and secure under your hose clamp. Done.

Just like on my DIY CAI for my daily Civic:

i had that exact kit from the same people on my D15b7 - its very good value for money and the pod isnt actually too bad
it fills out the engine bay with the single cam engines and looks really good

in comparison to other intakes i have had on the car:
- K+N long pod filter on stock arm - blarry crap sound, little better fuel economy, worse performance than stock
- this above kit (simota - mebe fake but meh) - very loud but has a nice sound, better high end performance, slightly worse fuel economy (would sound good enclosed)
- Fujita CAI - not as loud or deep, better response and low down power, less power overall than the simota kit, best fuel economy over all

hope this helps

I has one, loud as bugger.
Once you get up in the RPM, it's drowns out my Mugen Twin Loop.

Might sell soon and replace with custom alloy pipe.

I've got one similar, don't know whether it's real or what brand it is. Bought it off someone on the forum. Engine responds a lot better than my stock arm with pod. Great for what it's worth, not as loud as i expected though. But still a great intake.

Pod filter end might be 4" or something. No idea about the TB end
