yes, your friend is right, you shouldnt be using aftermarket lug nuts on your stock rims

They'll fit but not perfectly. I wouldn't do it if you're going to be having them for a while, but if you're only using them for a little bit (say travelling to sell / buy wheels) then it won't be TOO bad.

The reason why you use aftermarket lug nuts on aftermarket wheels is they tend to be of a tapered/conical lug nut shape, while most stock Honda wheels are ball/radius.

If you use aftermarket lug nuts on stock wheel, or vice versa, well, the force will not evenly distribute over the whole lug nut. Instead you'll get all the force on a thin circle going around the perimeter of the nut. Not really ideal and could damage your rims or your lug nut.

Above photo is of an aftermarket nut that was used on stock ITR rims. Notice the part where it's worn away? That's line was probably where all the force was being exerted on the nut.

Also notice how the stock nuts are shaped very differently.

If it's just to have for a test fit, I'm sure it'll be fine.

I wouldn't do it for anything long term though.
