Hey fellas,

this question has prob been asked a million of times, I've searched but my question has still not been answered....

I'm after an intake that's effective at low rev range, that doesn't lose power and still has a deep suction sound below 3000rpm

I was keen on the Injen CAI but after reading up about it, i found out you lose power at lower rev range due to the bigger piping, I'm not really sure how it sounds down low either.

I had a SRI on my integra which sounded pretty nice at low revs but too much heat soak.

I also heard of the Comptech Ice box, but i dont know much about it....

is that the best suited option for me?? or should i look at getting a SRI and making a heat shield for it???

What's your budget?

Not much sound increase with Comptech ice box. For sound, your only two choices are SRI or CAI. I went with an enclosed SRI to get the best of both worlds and avoiding sucking up hot air.

My easy DIY solution...replace stock air filter with K&N panel, remove resonator, connect some kind of piping to the inlet of the airbox for a cold air feed. :)
Or you can get a K&N typhoon kit like this.

yea Im leaning towards a SRI too, who made your encloser for you? do you have any pics? did you still keep the resonator??

What's your budget?

Prob around the $500 mark

Gruppe M ftw!!

I dont know what that is.........

Sounds ok, how does it sound?? is it noticable at low revs??

I've done it to my RB3, it can be a bit loud from about 2500 rpm onwards, quiet on cruising speeds.. but I only have the stock paper filter on because K&N doesn't make one for the RB3. Very slight improvement in fuel economy, as the RB3 airbox is stupidly restrictive...

GruppeM... $1000 for a frigging intake....

Icebox is the best of both worlds (as flood proof as the stock intake), and it's cheap... $200 odd to your door. But it is quiet and it doesn't add "bling" to your engine bay, it'll get louder if you drop a K&N filter in there, but still quieter than the others.

Sri will heat soak.... DIY heat shield might look dodgey if not done right tho.

Will a pod in the stock airbox make much of a difference instead of the flat panel filter?

Without making a bigger hole in the airbox, I doubt it will make much of a difference. You will also need some kind of adapter to properly mount it inside the airbox.

+1 on the Gruppe M, I also use that setup.

For your budget, I would recommend the injen CAI.

Partly because you can run it either as an SRI or a CAI.
Plus it's easily in your price range.

Has anyone actually run the Injen both ways? I've only used mine as a CAI.

I made it myself by hand. Took quite a few weeks to do it. Resonator is out of course since the stock airbox is not in there anymore.

I made a DIY of it a few years back. http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?53595-DIY-Ghetto-dodgy-custom-airbox-for-SRI-(Accord-Euro).-Temperature-on-page-5!

yea that looks pretty good, but I have fog lights on my car, so I don't know where I'm gonna lead the intake duct to??

And I saw this after I ordered a CT-E Icebox! Wonder what the quality is like as I understand its a replica. Not sure if it comes with a filter either?!

whats better a sri or cai ? (sorry for hijack)

Fredoops

CAI: COLD air intake less lower end, more higher end.
SRI: should be called HOT air intake, good lower end, but not so much on the higher end... and it's illegal in many states due to exposed filter in hot engine bay, and it's got issues with Heat soak...

I just fit it today! videos never do these things enough justice, sound quality is too poor! you gotta hear it in person! I'll make a DIY thread for it tho..... if there isn't one already!
