hey ozhonda, ive got a eg3 civic (hatch) im having troubles with confirming if a b18c2 conversion is legal. The civic that i have came with a 1.3 (d13b) from factory and im allowed to go 15% bigger displacement, but the eg6's came with 1.6L engine so can i use the 1.6 figure (as its the same shell) do the eg6 brake conversion, then get a blue slip to tell the rta that ive changed the engine?

I have looked through many threads similar but noone has given me a certain answer.... some say its legal some say its isnt..

just wanna verify this before i start my build thread ( thursday/friday)

Please let me know asap

Cheers Ryan ~

your post sounds like a love letter.
can't use eg6 because they're not australian delivered model.
eg5 is d16y though, 1.6 ltr.

Dear Ryan,

I don't think this is goin to work out, i love you but i, found someone else. I'm sorry

LOL jokes, its not illegal. As mocci said they use the eg5 shell at the RTA as the figure using the 1.6ltr, and so the 1.8L b18c2 falls under the 15%

LOL ahahha, so can i use the 1.5L figure and go 15% on top of that? (to save u guys time calculating it... 1.6X115/100 = 1.84)

yeh, I thought it depends on the vin of the vehicle the engine is going into?

negative. its based on the maximum engine size that was avaliable for that chassis.

For example, take the LH torana, it came with a 1.9l 4 cylinder as the smallest engine, and a 5 litre as the biggest. so even if gthe car was a 1.9 from the factory, they base the max engine size off the 5.0

Could you ask your local rta place? since they're the ones who will sign off on it in the end ?
