First up, I know there's a million threads on it so I thought I would post up experience seeing as there has been so many variations on success and failure...
Bought one off here for $14 delivered:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390038699227&ssPageName=STRK:MEBDIX:IT
Got it cut by A1 Locksmiths on Russell road in Morley for $50. Did it spot on, worked in the lock and ignition barrel straight away.
Took the 3 button remote AND the little transponder out of the factory key. The transponder is glued in so takes a fair bit to get it out and you end up butchering the plastic around it in the process so not sure how well it would go back in if the need arose. Take your time on this if you wanna minimise damage.
The key I bought off ebay had a little plastic ridge that holds the transponder in by pushing down on it, it was slightly too big so I cut/filed 50% of it down so the two halves would come together spot on. Did it all up carefully, its not the best bit of kit floating around but does the job. Time will tell on durability.
All back together, starts first time!
