Pretty sure you can just go to Honda and buy a Honda key and get it made up there OR at hardware or in cabramatta somewhere for really cheap! haha.
I remember my parents doing once.

there's a few little stores down one of the pathways on John St. And tbh, I have no idea about what you are talking regarding this, "chip"?

Who is 'they'?

I think you need a Honda transponder and to have it coded to your ECU. Pretty much a Honda dealer thing for that.

I bought an old VW Vento (Golf with a boot) a while back. Only got one key with it. I managed to get some key blanks from the US for $25. Had then cut to copy the key I had for $17. Then took them to VW to have the ECU coded to them. That cost $66. But apparently if I had just gone to VW and got them to supply, cut, and code three keys I would have been up for $300.

You can get them coded at places that code garage remotes/car keys/alarm remotes etc... As long as you have atleast 1 of them, they can duplicate it. The place I went to didn't use my keys, they used their own (they want profit from key also). But Costed $50/key including coding/cut/key. On ebay, you can get the same key they use for about $8 delivered - they have the honda logo and all looks original.

Peace.

any honda dealership can do it for you for around 132 to program, 50bux to cut.
there are aftermarket keys you can use but has to be suited for ur car. for example T5 ignition transponder can be used for s2000 and other hondas.
i called up peterwarren because i thought i lost keys and it cost about 257 bux and that was just for one key! + 80 to tow too.

I got my spare key done at a local key-cutting booth in the shopping centre. It's not cheap (cost me $99), but I'll bet that it's alot cheaper then getting a new key from Honda direct. From what I've seen, if the place can do the standard Falcon/Commodore keys, then they'll be able to do Honda ones as long as they have the correct blanks for them.

So, i just cut a spare key today and it needs to be programmed. Can i just take the two to the shop and get them to program the cut one already? or do they have to go from scratch.

I think they'll just make it from scratch - like they rather cut+program for obvious reasons. $__$

It's possible with certain keys. Search S2ki for examples.

Yep, transponders are universal.

I hadn't seen this thread. Looks like an interesting key.
