Ok guys, so i just realised my car roof has been slashed infront of my house. i'm seriously getting over this bullsh!t. my car has been keyed and now the roof slashed infront of my own home, within a couple of weeks. i was just saving the funds to get my clutch and gearbox repaired. but now this has happened. i can't trust my car on the street. i want a better alarm system, but dont think there could be an alarm to let me know when my car has been keyed or roof has been slashed. my car cant stay in the garage because my mum has to keep her car in there. i'm soo upset that i cant release any of my stress on the bastards who done it. it's going to be a costly excercise to get the key marks and roof reapired. i dont know who could be soo low to do this to me. i have no enemies that i know of. i dont know who could be doing it but it's really frustrating. anyway im sorry to brag but i must say, beware to anyone leaving there cars outside. another s2k owner has also had his car keyed. i think there's s2k haters out there doing it to everyone.

If you have full comp insurance, use it for what its worth.

That's such bad luck man.

And, is it $2100 because your premium is set very low?

I had a similar thing happen to me, but my excess ended up being alot higher as I had to pay vehicle excess $2000 plus normal excess and then age excess which ended up costing me $2900. I figured it was worth it as I got a new roof installed and a new paint job.

I have to say there is no way I would own an S2000 unless I had a garage and full, low excess insurance.

In 2001 when the car was still fairly new and got a lot of attention I drove to the casino (not a usual hangout of mine) figuring being a casino the undercover parking would have loads of security cameras. Car park was full. Had to park across the street in 'SecureParking'. The attendant asked me how much I paid for the car, as his mates s******ed whilst leaning on their car.

When I came back to the car the roof had been holed, passenger door keyed and they had urinated on the drivers door handle. Insurance looked after everything. Needless to say, I don't drive to town anymore and don't ever use the ironically named 'SecureParking'.

wow, that really sucks to be you.
If you didn't have to replace your clutch then it'd be a good excuse to get yourself a hardtop haha.
Bad luck buddy, such is life unfortunately.
The other day i gunned my s in 2nd gear for the first time in months. What do you know? Got caught 88 in a 50 zone fined 710 and 5 demerit points.
Shit happens, what matters is the way you take it.
Hope everything works out!

shouldn't age excess only apply if you were driving and had an accident? not if this sort of thing happened.

Yer i kinda made a mistake buying it without thinking about these consequences. if i knew i wouldn't have bothered. i do regret buying this car. all the grief and money it has caused is ridiculous.

Hmmm, hate to point out the obvious but this isn't exactly like ALPS case. His was bad luck (Shit happens), yours was a very poor decision (Shit head ;) ).

But as you say, what is important is not what happens but how you react to it.

LOL!. and i'm not reacting very well. i can't just keep spending my money on pointless crap like this. i want to mod my car. not keep spending money fixing it. which is what i've been doing since i've bought it :(

that's what i'm thinking of doing. the thing is in the past year, hers has been keyed and another instance rear window smashed. infront of the house as well. so she's won the garage position. has a VZ SV6 with the mock Clubsport body kits.

anyway! so i'm going to make a claim! how do i know that the insurance company will replace my roof properly and with proper material/soft top with proper installation and a proper respray? are they just going to spray the one section or the whole car? i'm with AAMI. i'm going to be paying 2100 so i expect them to do it properly.

Bad luck dude. I think it's time to invest in a hardtop. I would think it's totally worth it although it's a high startup cost.

Too many folks with hardtops now - I reckon keep the soft top, but look for a garage :)

I feel for you man... List of things that happened to my cars:

Jazz (Damage from 2008-present):

Keyed across the driver side door all around to the passenger side of the boot

Keyed again a few weeks later on boot

Had windscreen wipers switched around... WTF??

Had tires stabbed twice

All this on top of being keyed at Parramatta Westfields as well.

Integra (damage from 2009 to present):

Front windscreen wipers snapped off (whole arms). Someone left a card telling me their mate can fix it cheap as well (WTF)

Tires stabbed 3 times

Company Car (damage from start of the year):

Tires stabbed once

This is all parked downstairs at my apartment. We don't understand why. Only thing we know is our apartment is full of centrelink bludgers and druggies. In 2003-2004 there was a car bomb downstairs in one of the carports. Ended up being a lady upstairs owing money. Authorities say it was lucky that it was windy and they believe that's what might have set it off prematurely. She OD'd a few months later. We really need to move but I'm saving for a house and the rent is pretty cheap!!! Parramatta area.

hmm. steep excess.

Well, i got my car roof slashed and broken into. They pushed out the dents on my car resprayed the rear... and replaced it with an OEM AP2 glass roof... I paid $500 excess + a few hundred more for extra parts for fitting the AP2 roof conversion... less than 1g for something worth $4k. if you want the whole car resprayed, just key the rest of your car... just sayin'

AUS that isnt entirely true. all my cars are with AAMI (7 cars) and AAMI have never picked the panel shop, i have always picked it for all my vehicles (Merc Viano, Merc ml270, impreza rs, s2000, accord euro, mr2 bathurst, {{jdm mr2 turbo gts - with just car which is a branch of AAMI}}). You just gotta know how to talk to them :P

i got a hit and run too. car was parked outside and a BWM reversed into it and drove off. Luckily, a nice lady who was walking past saw the whole thing and left me a little note on my car with the guys rego etc. Went to the cops and 2 days later they charged him with a hit and run. He told the police and i quote "It was raining and i thought i hit a pole, i came back the next day and there was no car there". I know how you feel ALPS, some little shits egged my car a few weeks ago. Too bad for them i know who they are :P

Move to somewhere else I guess. Don't blame it on the car. Ur insurance cost doesn't sound right. Why is excess so high? U just got ur license or u r under 25? I guess installing a gate around ur Hse can help

All I think he was trying to do was answer your question, his excess is probably high because of where he lives.
