hey all just picking peoples brains on turbo size for my car...

its a '95 crx running b16a... just going a bolt on kit with upgraded injectors, fuel pump, malpassi, running cooler and Hondata as well...

anyway planning on running around 5-8psi and was wondering what turbo size would suit...

been offered a T25g of an SR20 silvia and also been offered a T28 of and s14...

other than those i was thinking down the lines of a GT25 or GT28... anyone got any recommendations??

also what about a T3???

thanks

Hey man, I am not sure about some of the others you have mentioned, but I have a GT28R on my B16A Sol. Its a rated at 320hp. I am currently running 9psi and I am told its good for 15psi or so. starts boosting at 2500rpm and comes on very strong at 3000rpm till redline. Its good for a standard motor and you can up the boost once you strengthen you motor. :D

They would all work well on your car. If you can get your hands on ball bearing - go for it! The size sounds like a good match to the engine

Compressor wheel is 0.60 I think?

A T28 off of a S15 SR20DET would work good but as said a GT28R would be better. How much power are you aiming for in the end?

i've bought a t28 of a series 2 s14...cost me $100 and is still in perfect running order... will do for now to get the setup right then i'll save for a higher end turbo... depends how long the engine lasts...

power isnt a huge issue... would be happy with about 130 at the wheels...

Once you get to 130 you'll want more. Trust me.... :p

you will want more but will all that extra power be usable? 130-140 at the wheels is plenty quick for a honda. Anymore and you will have to upgrade the rest of the car just to be able to use that power. Stick with the turbo you got for 100bucks....thats just an awesome awesome price for a good turbo. It may not be ball bearing but unless your chasing big big hp numbers then it really doesnt matter. Never mind the power figures...now you will have that big fat midrange torque :D

I just saw this thread, i'd suggest you made the right decision, especially if its a .60ar

I run a T3, .48AR and personally, i think its a super combination, hard to beat.
the T28 will spool faster than the T3, for low boost will suit you perfectly!

great deal at $100

for some reason i wouldnt have bought a turbo for 100 bucks. just doesnt sound right.
i got my s15 T28 for 700 bucks with 3000kms on it.

"doesnt sound right" ahh yes the scientific "gut feeling" at work again.
Would that same turbo be better if he paid $1000 for it?

SXYSOL, dont listen to these guys, I paid under $300 for my T3, no issue what so ever, no shaft play, nothing.
Of course, I'd be opening that snail up to check it internally, but other than that.... BARGAIN.

nah gt28R are allright, if you dont wanna upgrade too much more.
it would be better getting a bigger turbo and make it work less.
such as a 3030 or 2535, depending what sorta power you wants - torque/topend

but nevertheless if its garrett never get nething less then an RS turbo eg.
gt3030Rs
Gt28RS
Gt3037Rs
Gt2535Rs

Cheers mate

i wouldnt even think about paying 1000 bucks for a used turbo.
just because there s no shaft playdoenst mean it wont break sooner rather than later. i bought a turbo from an r33 (ceramic turbine) off a reputable guy on the forums, no shaft play, hardly any km's for $440 a few years ago (before i got the t28) and within 10 mins of it working, the turbine snapped off. explain that.

IMO, i'd rather pay abit higher price for piece of mind, knowing that it i wont have to tear it apart just to check it internally.
700 bucks for a s15 t28 with only 3000kms is a good price already. i havent had any troubles with it and its been 6 months (2500 kms)

you aparently misunderstand the point I am making, so i'll just leave it alone.
It seems his decision has been made.

wow didnt realise this thread was still going... haha

i havent bought the T28...mate decided to keep it...i think someone got in his ear that he was selling it a little cheap...haha... so whoever said about buying the turbo for $100 he had no idea what it was really worth trust me...

um on the GT28 i'm mainly not choosing that at the moment as i just want to see how the whole system runs... who knows 6months down the track the engine may be rooted and i'll have to rebuild it anyway so i'm not about to outlay 1500bucks on a turbo and then have to rebuild the motor to handle it...

thanks for the advise guys really appreciated...
