View Full Version : Car battery replacement
Seems like my car (Civic VTi-R) battery is dead. It was all good, but then all of a sudden, the car was just dead - headlights wouldn't turn on and the starter motor didn't even bother trying.
I was told that the corrosion around the terminals could affect the starting of the motor?
I'll give that a try now, but if all else fails and I need a replacement battery, is there a recommended brand I should go for as such?
Thanks in advance guys!

If you have a multi-meter put it across the terminals and see if there is anything left in it.
Also, try cleaning the terminals (boiling water is handy) as that can help!

I heard somewhere Coke works even better on the terminals... Not too sure about that though....
Thx. Win.
I've just cleaned the terminals but it didn't help.
Looks like I need a replacement battery - any recommendations?
I head Exide is pretty good - any feedback from you guys?
Also, what's a decent price range for car batteries these days?

Yep, I had the bigger version in my old car, about $450 at the time (but compared to the value of the gear it was running wasn't a big deal).

I'd like to see that, your doing well to get half that. for general cranking and very light audio then normal batteries are fine, but my last car was drawing 200A of audio, i needed all the help I could get. ;)

yeh i recommend the optima d51, it fits perfectly and also does a great job if you have a decent sized car audio set-up. it may seem a little pricey but its well worth it. i picked mine up for 250, ring around and you'll get a better price.
