my car currently has ek4 rims (15") with tyres 195/50/15 with fairly bad treads.

a mate of mine is willing to sell me his spare set of wheels which are 13" with 185/70/13 tyres.

i read up the speedo becomes more/less accurate when changing wheels, not sure how accurate this info is.

i was just wondering if it would change the ride/handling much? and if its safe and alright for me to use those 13"

It is legal (rolling diameter changes by 13mm, you're allowed up to 15). Your speedo would be out by 2.3%

Would look pretty silly with a 70 profile tyre lol

@ charliebrown - yeah it would look quite silly, it's my cheapest option atm though lol

@k - its for a civic eg vti, hope its not a problem?

thanks for the info :)

Just trial fit one of the front wheels to see if it fits and clears the brakes all good before you buy em

It's fine to use the 13", but probably no smaller. 14" only just clears a 262mm rotor so a 13" rim should easily clear a 242mm rotor.

But why would you spend money on smaller rims? It will handle worse. Why not spend the money on new/good tyres?

13" wheels on a Civic will look stupid. It's a waste of money. Just keep the EK4 rims.

Nah, 242. Only the EG6 came with 262 AFAIK.

I also wasn't aware that the EK's came with 262mm, except for EK4/EK9?

Nonetheless, my 14" rims only just clear my 262mm on my EF8. So I'm going on the assumption that the extra 25.4mm (or nearabouts) should be fine with the 20mm difference between 242 and 262.

Ek9 i know is 282mm, same as ITR, but ek4 was 262mm and Ej8...afaik

Im not to sure as to what the ek1 did run though, now that u mention it

im kind of tight on money atm thats why i planned on getting the 13" for cheap. i will just find a way to get new tyres :)

dont want the bad handling lol

thanks all :)

What's your budget for tyres? How can you be so poor that you can afford to replace your tyres?

mugen_ctr - Yeah I thought EK9 might be 282. But EJ8 262, seriously? That's awesome! EG5 just got ripped off I guess...

As said above. Just get new tyres man, waste of money getting these wheels

It's impossible to be able to afford different wheels, but not be able to afford new tyres.

If you can't afford to buy a set of basic tyres, then honestly, you probably should stick to public transport.

A little harsh but IMO a fair comment. The more corners you cut mate the furthur you'll put yourself behind
