has anyone here turbo'd a d16y, any if so how much of a differance would u get preformance wise?

i got d16y4 stamped on my engine whats the differance between the two??
also what engine is in a civic type r?>? b18a??

B16B.

There's no such thing as a B18A from my knowledge. The B18B/B18C's came in the DC2's.

d16y8 is SOHC vtec, d16a8 is DOHC non vtec, they both make about the same power. not sure aout a d16y4. (d series, 1.6l)

civic type r has a b16b (b series, 1.6l)

the y4 is a 86kw GLi engine. SOHC non-vtec. www.turbod16.com

something I probably neglected to mention.

you should see a significan tpower increase even with low boost (not sure how high you can take this engine though, 6psi ?)

also turboing a d series engine has the advantage of if you destroy your engine, it costs very little to replkace it, if this is your first turbo project it's probably not a bad place to start.

d16y8 (from civic vti) sohc vtec 96kw
d16y4 (from civic gli/cxi) sohc non-vtec 88kw

SHOGUN ek civic show car has put a turbo on his y4... might be able to find some figures somewhere lol...

A properly setup 6psi system (ECU, Injectors, Intercooler) should produce close to 100kw to the wheels. Your gearbox if it's a manual should handle fine, but your stocky clutch won't last long.
