just had a b18c2 put in my ek a week ago. when i turn it on there is alot of smoke being blown out of the exhaust. even when the car has sat for 10 minutes and is warm there is still some smoke being blown it doesn't stop till i drive it for a few minutes. it also blows a bit after i WOT for a bit i see it in the mirror. (as well as the cars behind me)

just wanted to know what the problem could be.
ps still using d-series exhaust.

Whats the weather tempreature like when you start the car?

What color is the smoke?

well it is alot worse when its really cold so like 6:30 in the morning but even cold start at around 12 pm it smokes up. the smoke is just white and there is some steam mixed with something else u can smell. also forgot to mention if the car sits for around 15 minutes idling small droplets of water mixed with a small amount of oil drop out.

Most likely condensation so dont worry.

But keep an eye on your oil. Check your oil levels once a week and monitor

but it lingers for a bit i thought if it would just disappear after a second or two. it stays for around 10 seconds?

It will stay for more then 10secs. It will stay till it reaches operating tempreture. Look around when you drive brand new cars get it too

no i meann it stays for hours if i leave it idling i mean if i rev it the smoke just hangs around for a while up in the air for a while. even when the temp gauge says its warm it still spits a bit of water/oil and has some smoke coming out

Do a compression and leak down test.

Check for water in oil and oil in water.

Does the water need topping up often?

Ohh well as trism said to a compression leak down test. If u have oil and water mixing it means u need a new headgasket.
Best to do a compression leak down test and hopefully all 4 cylinders are within 10% of eachother.

Just confirming that you know a compression test is different to a leak down test.

i trusted the place that did the swap to find out if anything was gone on the engine and they gave me a list of recommended parts which i changed all of (seals water pump etc). my car did overheat the first day quite excessively could this have caused it? if it is the problem...

what colour is the smoke? - sorry if it had been asked before.

black smoke? then you're running rich - most likely.. 02 sensor might be faulty
