Hey, was just wondering if tectaloy radiator flush is ok to use on a stock b16a radiator. Didn't think much of it, but a friend said it can be really bad for the engine :S Input?

better bet would be to run water through the system to flush it, you don't really need a additive flush unless you have alot of build up of crap, but if you want to use it i don't see how it could harm your radiator in any way.

I wouldn't bother unless the radiator is blocked. Just open up the radiator drain, collect the old coolant in a sealed container for proper disposal. Then use a hose and spray tap water through the radiator. After that, make sure that it is fully drained out and then fill back up with new Honda Type II coolant (which is blue in colour and good for 100,000km). If you do it this way, you won't get corrosion, pitting or blockages which are actually caused when you use those aftermarket coolants (green, red, yellow) because they corrode parts of the waterpump and/or radiator.

Cheers for the helpful info guys!! Just thought it might be good. I recently bought the car, and it looks like the old owner didnt give it much TLC :/ oh well. How much a bottle is the Honda type II coolant?

if the radiator is old pull the hose instead of the plug. the plug might snap when you twist it from being so old.

you should give honda a call and order some coolant, you can always use supercheap auto coolant all does the job, but if you get coolant that needs to be mixed, remember to mix it correctly or u will have problems.

coolant is coolant, doesnt matter if its genuine or aftermarket, as long as you stay with the oem type.

So i was talking to a mates brother, who is a mechanic. And he took a look at my radiator, and said it needs replacing. He said it's dying, judging by the light cracks a faded top :/ Opinions?
