i seem to be getting a small water leak from under both sides of the dash which drips onto the bottom of the door trim then onto the sil then onto the floor
its a ek4 and i cleaned the sunroof drains so its not leaking from that
any possibility its leaking from the windscreen seals?
or any other suggestions on where to check?

if you need a photo to help visualise where its leaking let me know and i'll take one tmr

thanks for any help!

Take a photo if you can it might help us work out where its coming from, if you think a seal is leaking what i usually do is disconnect the battery negative(incase of water shorting a wire in the cabin if its a heavy leak) and start spraying the seals with a garden hose or a bucket and check for leaks, its easier if you have 2 people, so one sits inside and checks where your sprayin water too see if its coming in. chuck an old towel down to stop the water getting in your carpet while your testing and make sure to dry/air the car out when your done.

yea it was a bit hard to see where it comes from coz didnt want to take apart the interior if i didnt need to coz it could be sealed from the outside
so here are the pics:

so heres an over view of the area in general:

where the wire comes out behind the removable cover, if i put my fingers up there, i can feel that its wet:
http://img822.imageshack.us/img822/5218/img1070ag.th.jpg (http://img822.imageshack.us/i/img1070ag.jpg/)

and from that, the water then drips onto this part of the door trim, only the most front part where the speaker grill is and around that area:
http://img822.imageshack.us/img822/13/img1068x.th.jpg (http://img822.imageshack.us/i/img1068x.jpg/)

then the water hits the sill then drips onto the carpet. didnt get a chance to get a picture to show water drips... but its there and it usually leaves a trail of water beads leading to down the sil to the carpet lol:
http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/4591/img1066t.th.jpg (http://img842.imageshack.us/i/img1066t.jpg/)

this is on both sides but i only took pics of the drivers side

is it possible that the windscreen seal is gone?
are they sikaflexed in? or is it a rubber seal which could have deteriorated?

cheers
=)

Subscribed to thread as well. I'm not too sure - I know my windscreen seal is a bit dodgy (98 model) - it just came like that from the factory where the seal doesn't seem to fit flush, but I haven't had or noticed any water coming in, but will have a check next time as well...

Would be interested to see where the problem is. I guess there are only so many areas where water can be coming in from where you are describing. Your Honda dealer could know something on this problem as well...?

the windscreens are siliconed on so i doubt it would be coming from that.

check your door seals, i've got a similar problem, except its coming from the top of the door, like right above my shoulder, leaks from there when it rains, sometimes have to put down a towell to soak up the drips so my seat dosent get wet.

but yeah, defs check the door seal

your leak might be closer to the front, and it might be running down the door instead of dripping out like mine does.

c ... but yeah, defs check the door seal

There are a number of areas at the front of the car that can cause problems

1. If you have a new windscreen installed and the seal is not 100%. This is rare but can happen

2. Under the plastic cowling at the base of the windscreen there is a small "gully" area. There are a few openings in this gully that may be the culprit

3. Most likely though "redefine" has picked it - your window seals get brittle with age and allow water to run down the window pane and into the door hollow. This then runs down to small openings in the base of the door and onto your sills.

Take your door trims off and check behind the plastic. It could also be your weatherproof plastic has perished.

If there is a lot of water then this might be a problem but a few drops is nothing to be concerned about. Just make sure your speakers are protected.

thanks for the responses

it seems that the first place i can feel it starting (obviously not from outside) is righter under the dash

now i thought it was the rubber seal on the door too which then leaks under the top of the door trim and then down the a pillar then to the under dash etc
but on a dry day i wshed my car and held the hose round that area and no leak

i got to mention too that when washing the car there is no leaks what so ever... only when it rains lol

might need to pull the trim off the a pillar after all

This was my problem - was filled with leaves so it wouldn't drain properly and leaked down onto the floor of my front seats.

Just removed the plastic, cleaned out, and replaced the plastic clips since they all crapped themselves.

i should check that also
where did you get the clips from?

this maybe my problem coz the drivers side is lifted and wont push back down
but i cant see how this makes it leak on both sides of the car
