Has Any1 had any problems on hot days with their brakes sinking down more than normal?? Also when sitting at the lights the pedals sinks more and dosnt hold the brakes. Is this some major problem? But It only happens on a hot day and works well any other time. Hope some1 can come up whith some ansers, cheers

I also have this problem sometimes.

Might want to check your brake fluid/brake lines/master brake cylinder seal etc. :)

Bmc?
Brake Master Cylinder.

Could be the BMC seal as well. I think if that's the case it will jus require replacement. Roughly $90-120.

this is caused due to worn master cylinder piston seals, if you neede new pas your brakes would grind/squeel, if you had a leak you would run out of brake fluid and the pedal would become spongy.

to rectify, you can rebuild the master cylinder or get a new master cylinder and bleed the brakes.

this happens more on hot days because with more heat in the engine bay the master cylinder bore expands with more heat and the seals dont seal as well so you get bypass.

I have the same problem with my old civic, sinks to the ground in summer + a/c on.
don't see any leaks but the brake fluid is black :D maybe is time I bleed it
Spongy pedal feel, I fix that with aftermarket pads instead of the OEM ones.

If i'm at the lights and i have the brake pedal down, after about a few seconds the pedal drops down even further..is this the same thing?

Come to think bout it I had the same problem in my old laser on hot days all It was was a 50cent seal I took out the shaft and replaced the seal and every thing went back to normal. I guess thats all I have to do.
Ill prob do it soon, If i had a digital camera available ill prob post a how to DIY on it.

is it hard to change the MC seal?

is it hard to change the MC seal?

From what I remember on the laser it was just two bolts then the shaft slid out then I put a new seal and put it back in then bled the brakes

Honda is very similar, but instead you have to change the pistons as well, they come in a kit from Honda for around $80

What do u mean the piston??
Is that the shaft that goes into the MC??

yes, the shafts have pistons on them with seals.
