Anyone used them before on here?
The pricing is much better than here in oz, but how about shipping cost and shipping times?
Needing new tires at end of year, still tryna decide on where i can outsource tires without braking the bank :)

Shipping for four tyres isn't worth it (can't remember exactly how much). MUCH cheaper for eight tyres ($35/tyre +/- but still works out cheaper than buying local).
I'm planning on buying four tyres with somebody from the forum here but haven't gotten around to organising it yet. One of my mates bought his last set from there and was very pleased.

Doesn't work out to be much cheaper even if you buy 2 sets man, save around $10 a tyre. If you and your mates all wanna get some cheap-ish tyres (14s 15s) and you get 3 sets (to stay under $1000 avoiding import tax), only then would it be worth it imo

i dont doubt there business qualities, as many ive read on other forums used them, but for much more expensive tires....
Im starting to think its not worth the savings if it works out to be very similar to the pricing here... and buying here, i dont have to wait for weeks for shipping :/

im not cheaping out LOL, just tryna find the best deals hahahaha, kinda hard when ur a student, an ur tires are nearing there end, an u got heaps of other things to pay off :(

Yes been using them since the early 90s well before internet days, back then it was mail order via phone & fax.
For common tyres like for example Kumho KU31, it wont be worth it since they are almost always on special with one of the big chains around the country and freight for 4 tyres is about US$300 alone.
But for tyres like RE11 which are not avail in Aust ( they still list the old RE01-R as motorsport tyre at motorsport prices in au ), or the Dunlop Z1 which is cheap from tirerack and often discounted and Dunlop au sets the rrp way too high then it's very worthwhile importing them yourself. AD08 prices are more reasonable from the Aust advan motorsport dealer but you'll still save a tidy amount from tirerack esp at the over parity EX rates atm.
We paid just over AUD$1000 for a set of Re11 in 205 45 16, a set of Re001 fitted would cost around $880-960 from a BTC. Even factoring in the cost of fitting the tyre at $20 each the difference of up to$200 for a huge step up in performance is well well worth it to us. Some might argue $200 is a not small sum; it's most certainly a significant amount to us too but I see it as the eqv cost of 133L of fuel that gets our dc2r to cover about 1500km of driving and the set of RE11 would have a service life of many times that.
A fren imported a set of Z1 18" a while back for his FN2 for track work, they left USA on a thurs and arrived on the next tues. Ours took just over a week to arrive incl the weekend. If I were to source a tyre from a local tyre dealer in Perth and they havent got the tyre in WA it would take up to 10 days to come from the East anyway.

^ damned right
mugen if you want RE001 or w/e why don't you call around and get some quotes, then look at the online price + $35 a corner. I'm considering the Yokohama S Drive in 195/50/15. I think they're a bargain at Tirerack

Well have a look at what the 'Survey' (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Yokohama&tireModel=S.drive&partnum=95VR5S&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes) says about the S Drive from 587 customer responses.
If you buy with somebody else, add $35 per tyre and you're looking at around $105-110 landed per corner, add a little bit for fitment, and I think it's a good deal.
The cost of tyres locally has gone up significantly in response to the rise in cost of raw materials.

I bought some tyres from tirerack recently. Cost me $300 to get them shipped down here, took about 3 days to arrive! Tyres I got were Dunlop Z1 star specs, worked out to be around $1,000 - $1,100 to get them here. Only downside is they don't accept credit card or paypal. Had to do an "International money transfer" which incurred another $20-$30 fee.

I bought a set of RE-11s from Tirerack and would recommend them to anyone. They provide all the details to do the international money transfer and as stated above shipping is less than a week.
If you are after tyres that are sold in Australia then you won't save money cause shipping is $300, however you are after something thats not sold here then Tirerack is your answer.
A mate of mine scored a set of RE001s (called RE760 sport in USA) + 4 new Sparco wheels shipped for $1300. Adding wheels to your order saves you money cause the shipping isn't that much more.

And like I said, if you buy two sets of tyres you will save a lot of money on shipping.

I agree here, unless its a unique set of rubber that u cant get here.... shipping price coupled with the actual tires em selfs, not worth the all the effort lol, even though its a week shipping tops

My tyres came in 2 separate bundles due to the size / weight of them. So you probably won't be saving much on shipping if you bought 2 sets. Also take into account the $1000aud import tax.

If a parcel, i.e. one consignment addressed to you contains goods or other packages
that were imported for other people (such as your friends or relatives) and the parcel has a declared or assessed value exceeding A$1000 you will need to lodge an import declaration and pay the duty, taxes and charges. Customs law does not permit a parcel to be split or broken down into separate packages for assessment, even if those other packages were imported for other people.
why did yours get split?
mustve been really heavy hey.

In light of this, does the total include shipping?
for example:
Tires = 800
Shipping = 350
Total = 1150 there fore this is over the 1k mark, But in saying soooo, does custom take into consideration the total cost or the actual value of the items which will deter-main if u pay the import tax or not
cheers

I bought a set of Mugen MR5's and they all came packed separately.
Maybe TireRack charges you less for shipping (and covers the gap) to promote multiple purchases. But I guarantee they offer cheaper shipping prices if you get two sets.

Even split it by 5 lol. Customs won't have shit on you.
They can EAD anyway with their bullshits regulations.

Import tax does not include shipping costs. eg. No tax on tyres that are $900 + $300 shipping.
