Just wondering why you chose your Integra over the others in the Honda line up, Civic, Prelude, S2000.
Was it styling, best bang for buck or The R factor?

i've had my R for about 2 months now..
i haven't regreted buying it or thinking to myself i should of bought this car or that car..
its true when other people say that once you have a type R you never want to look back.. I AGREE

Yeah i guess they are a combination of all 3 factors listed above, i own a 91' LS and even though they are a pretty old model the shape, power and handlling is absolutly great not dis-regarding any of the other great models honda makes.. But i love all Integra's and will soon be upgrading to the DC5R...

Since when was a type R cheaper then a prelude? Though 5th Gen ad Type R were in teh same ball park figure, if anything type R bit more expensive by couple of Gs?
2001 HONDA PRELUDE
Coupe VTi-R 2dr Man 5sp 2.2i
Price when new (RRP) $47,209
2001 HONDA INTEGRA
Coupe Type R 2dr Man 5sp 1.8i
Price when new (RRP) $43,559
Lude was more expensive when they came out but your question is why do people by type rs over the following cars. Keep in mind ludes are now cheaper then Type R lOL (second hand that is). In answer ur question its a type R all round package of performance.

I doubt type Rs are cheaper than preludes. Even bb6 preludes go for about the same price as a dc2r, dc5s are more again more expensive ...

Type R's are cheaper than Prelude's VTIR according to redbook.
2000 ITR $22,850 - $25,500
2000 VTIR Prelude $24,700- $27,450
Obviously a DC5R would cost more.
Also for those who voted for the R factor, would you still have got an Integra if they did'nt have the R factor? And what would be your 2nd choice out of the Honda line up?

- wanted the sportiest sports car availible stock
- red recaros
- something non turbo and fuel efficiend yet capable of producing decent power
- wanted decent insurance
- great handling
- dont want to sound like an idiot, but i hate soft floaty suspension
- looks great
type R seemed like a logical choice

brand new s2000 is like 72 G's isnt it ?
I have a '98 INTEGRA VTI-R
At the time there was no Type R for sale in Oz(grrrrr) so for me it was a decision between the following:
INTEGRA VTI-R
PRELUDE VTI-R
TOYOTA CELICA
I went with the Integra VTI-R coz of the following:
1) Lurve the front lights
2) Lurve the performance
3) Lots of luxury goodies and gadgets (Sunroof, ABS, Power Everything...etc etc)
4) Lurve the dashboard - makes me feel like a fighter pilot!
Pound for pound the INTEGRA is still as modern looking today as it was back then! The styling is timeless.....and technology was way ahead of its time!
The Prelude was a very close consideration.....but interior wasnt to me as snug as the Teg! It looked ok from outside.....but i never did get used to the lights! The Teg was always to me more of a "love at first sight" .
The Celica was discounted very early on........despite the looks and nice interior/good build quality - it had the performance of a granny taxi! And plus the front lights looked a bit out of whack! Not like the Integra! Oh, and also the fact that on the SX model......ABS wasnt available at all! I wasnt going to pay $65k to get the ZR model just for ABS!
Amazing how people place different things as important when making a decision to buy a car hey?

Good deal man. I dunno if anything wrong, was just wondering why it was so cheap and on sale for such a long time, I thought it was a mistake in the advertisment :)

yeh.. wasnt intending on getting ITR til end of the year.. but noticed that this one was on sale for quiet some time and could probably deal them down.. plus my co-worker is an ex-honda north used car dealer.. so thought me some tricks of the trade..
but.. seeing it was so cheap.. had to get it.. nothing wrong with it so far.. and it is in pretty good condition for '01.. only problem was the right recaro was a bit worn from the seat belt.. but well looked after by previous owner..

Couldn't afford a Type R, well, couldn't afford to insure a Type R, test drove a b16a crx and it was no faster than the charade I had previously (although it sounded like it was going faster), and VTiR i got had low mileage.

I chose my DA9 Teg over the others coz it has the looks (for it's age anyways) it was all I could afford 2 1/2 yrs ago and it has been in the family for at least 12yrs so I knew how well it was looked after and on top of that it was something diferent to modify, untill now I have seen afew going around so competition is geting harder and harder to be diferent thats why I will be going full out with Wide body kitted and rolling on some new set of 18's.
BTW: 18' inch powder coated wheels & 4 new tyres for any sexy honda, must sell! PM me for details yall......
My GF said she'd have sex with me in it if i bought it.

I was actually looking at buyin a 90' Lude, prior to buying my gen 2 teg, i looked at several cars, celicas, mx6, capris, preludes, and of course the 'lasers and camrys', which my dad was hounding me to buy, coz he read in a RACV magazine that their extreamly reliable and affordable.... Hmm YES DAD! ... thank god i didnt buy 1
Anyways I liked the 90' prelude because for its age it had all the options that some cars these days dont have, like cruise, but because my bros got 1 , i decided to steer away and look at something else, i looked at the 90' celica but the ones i test drived felt under power and it was hard to come across the ones with sunroofs, the older mx6's are pretty good for power but they are alittle bit 'boxy' and the capris looked nice but were under powered also
The Gen 2 had almost everything.. power everything, Disc brakes, metallic paint, and the overall body shape looked amazing (and still does!) and i luv the sunroof..

Good point there JNR MINT the LS is very good for it's age and like you said the shape is very contemporary, so much that when I ask people to guess what year my car is they normaly respond with: it look like between 95 and 97 model! you should see their faces when I tell them it's a 89! they are like  and more so when I tell them it has Electric windows, mirrors, sun roof and anttena they fully freak out!
all of the reasons above and more are why I bought a DA9 LS!
They may be old but they can still look very good when done up in the right way!
I agree, LS is an awesome looking car for its age! but you can pretty much say that about any Honda, they've always been ahead of their time.

used to have a gen3 crx, but after having a 2 seater car I swore I wouldnt get another one (maybe an s2k though hehehe). And seems like at the time the DC2 fit the bill.

I brought my 1st Integra in 1993 (89 LS) Man I loved that car, it drove great had awesome fuel economy, nice shape & schmick interior. For the next nine years I drove it over 200,000 km with no major problems (1xCV was replaced in 98).
Spring 2003.
The day had come to trade in/up and I went to my Honda dealership to look at some 2nd hand cars... That’s when I saw it, a dc5r on the showroom floor. I was like "how much do they go for" to the salesman (wife slaps my arm). The sales person throws me the keys and says " take it for a test drive if you like" Hell yeah..cha ching sold!!!
Two weeks later I drove a brand new 2003 Artic Blue DC5R out of the show room, I still remember how nervous I was that day, ultra paranoid that I would hit something.lol
Six months later I started having regrets.
Did I do the right thing?
Should I have brought something else? (More hp)
After posting some questions on Ozhonda & club RSX, I realised there was something more to Honda motorcars than meets the eye....it's the community of enthusiasts. A friendly, helpful bunch of people who go out of their way to help other owners alike.
After meeting some of these people on a cruise I get an invite to a Track day, woah baby, was I in for a surprise!!!! My type R was a machine built for the track, suddenly it became clear and to this day I have fond memories of those regrets and just laugh, if I only knew then what I know now...Honda for life.

yeh.. sometimes i'm at that stage too with my dc5r... i need to take mine down the 1/4mile or track.. i'd love to let it rip on the track.. too dangerous on the road..
yesterday this xr6 (non-turbo) wanted to drag.. (surfie kept pushing forward at the lights) i was ahead of it by one car length and he couldnt over take.. then wen i realised i was doing 150 in a 70 zone.. (my gf was in the car) i thought i better slow down.. dun wanna get into an accident.. so i break'd and let him pass.. vtec sounded awesome when it kicks in :D
"only milk and orange juice comes in two litres".. well why does my 2ltr vtec kicks ur xr6??
f**k i need to take it down the track !! :D

95 VTIR. I think because I was not allowed to have a turbo car. But after owning it for 4 years, I never had any regrets. I loved it to bits. Now for the R experience!
Just Imagine, I almost ended up with a Celica GTFOUR! URG!

wanted a sports car
dun have the money to get S2K
can't afford the NSX
dun like DC5S coz its just doesn't feel right
euro is too old for me
didn't even consider the V6 3L accord
if i get the odyssey, i will just become a taxi driver for my mates
no type R versions of the civic in aus (hard to find)
previous car was already a jazz
originally wanted an S14a 200sx, mainly because i knew the SR20DET engine pretty well, and my mate had rebuilt his sr20 in his s13 etc by himself and was 210kw at the wheels on 8psi boost... so i just thought, shit, i gotta get meself one of these.
then i went for a drive in another mate of mines car, which was a dc2r... and it seemed like alot more fun to drive...
i drove both cars, spoke to the parents who both said they didnt want me driving a turbo car at the age of 19... looked around, found a black dc2r in perfect condition (2001 model and had only done 49,000kms in about august 2005) for a good price... and cha ching! i became the proud owner of a ITR... which i love and wouldnt trade for anything (unless i had enough money for an NSX :))

Bought my DC5R coz couldn't afford a S2000. Also for the R factor as well. hehe. S2000 doesn't need to have a Type R badge as its already pretty type R-ish from stock anyway.
If i ever had the money, i would definately buy a NSX-R. The ultimate R from Honda!
If i was in my 30's or 40's would probably get a Accord EURO-R tho.
So i guess its all about the R factor for me! lol.

lol, i had no idea about honda's.
If i knew anything about Vtec or honda in general back then i doubt i would have bought my GSi...
That being said, it has proved to be a very reliable a-b car and has allowed me to save up for a real car!
Thanks GSi, but seeya. 2 months till Jap spec Evo 8. and counting!
i bought gsi coz i couldnt wait 2 more months to get the vti-r.. lol.. do i regret it?? half n half bcoz for a gsi.. my car performs pretty well..
hahah honestly.. i was first attracted by it's look.. then start to realise the attraction under the bonnet. then those lines like ~best FF drive~ comes in... then finally got the R infection and now seriously into it.. heheheh

I use to have EG sedan with B18C2 (from integra Vti-R), loved the car but after a test drive in ITR I new that my next car must be Type R, so few months ago I got my black ITR 2000 model and I just love the car, power, suspension, the feeling when you drive it is just great, a real race car for street and every day driving.
