If it's single cam the engine number will be d16y8 or y1

I'd its double cam it'll be a b16a or b18c

Sent from my custard cannon like Peter North.

if its vtec it will have one of those...

to get the engine number, it should be on a little flat bit on the block near where the gearbox attaches

you really should be using the search function, this has been covered before...use wikipedia, get the engine number find out the model of your car (egX) and work out using wikipedia or google if your engine should be in your model of car.

look on comliance plate for engine number/name, (e.g. D16y1) search engine number/name on google.

the name of the engine is right on the front near where the exhaust manifold is and to the left
once you have the engine stamp details we can tell you just about everything about the engine there is to know
but again - this has been covered many times before - you could turn up the same results by putting these two things into google
(google image search - honda engine stamp)
(google search - the number/letters on the stamp - and read up on it)

Also do some research on 'SOHC' and 'DOHC' engines, as well as SOHC VTEC and DOHC VTEC engines.

the Big ass VTEC lettering on the roccer cover is a good sign its a VTEC engine

if its vtec the rocket cover should read VTEC in big letters, and b series vtec has DOHC written as well which stands for double overhead cam shaft), SOHC stands for single overhead cam . Try reading the model plate (eg .. followed by the number eg3,4,5,6)

egs come in carby and fuel injected. eg3 (breeze - carby non vtec sohc d13b2) ,eg4 (gl carby non vtec sohc d15b/z), eg4 gli (efi/carby non vtec sohc) , eg5 (si non vtec dohc d16a8), eg5 (vti non vtec dohc d16y1) , eg6 (SIR vtec dohc b16a)

try reading just next to engine on your left look down a bit and you'll see the engine number

hope this helps. goodluck
