hi guys i've done a quick search and found nothing on this topic, so ive got a manual 99 EK1 hatch, and the the retaining springs in the rear drum brakes have seem to stretched, and the car wont budge in gear, so i was told that the wreckers around brisbane have nothing or no spare parts either, so would any one on here would recommend my options, would changing over to disc setup be an option? would really like to get this car registered soon, thanks in advance!!!

regards,

Michael

you can either buy new retaining springs from honda or go to disc setup.

If your on a budget then get the new retaining springs.

what would be involved in a change from drums to disc? is it hard? what parts are needed? could any one shed some light into this?

Buy there entire rear trailing arm, handbrake cables, and proportioning valve. It bolts up.

Sent from my custard cannon like Peter North.

Right here :D

Whats involved, easiest from my experience having gone through it on my EJ.....

You will need:
2 - Rear trailing arms from DC2/EK4/EM1/EK1
2 - Handbrake lines from Ek1/Ek4/EM1/DC2 (DC2 are slighty shorter, but will still work)
1 - Prop Valve from Ek1/EK4/Em1 (note all these are 4 wheel disc, even some ek1 are 4 wheel disc)
1 - 15/16 Master cylinder
1 - Brake Booster (not required Unless running DC2 Front caliper as well)
1 - Bottle of Honda Dot4 Brake Fluid

Installation is pretty straight forward, bolt off bolt on... Hand brake lines adjusted, Bleed Master cylinder, than put onto Brake booster...., than once done, bleed all brakes, than ur done, this is a very rough idea, there is much more, but again, jus an insght as to what u will need to do :)

If the cars a ABS model, u will need the ABS rear trailing arms, as they have the ABS sensor inbuilt into it

any more questions fire away :D
