hi guys,
i'm looking at buying a Prelude 5th gen, but the last service was done at 35K. It is now at 55K. So thats, 20K's without a service (i can only assume it wasnt serviced since there is no history...and no oil change i presume)
Now...is that enough to damage the engine? or be of a concern..
i drove the car, runs fine to me..VTEC still engages properly...
car will come with a 3yr warranty from dealer..

Nah, it was probably serviced. To go 20K without service, the car would drive rough as hell!

You should be provided with the ex-owners address or contact details. Or you could find out where the services were done the see what they know in regards to it.
However the best way is to simple, like everyone says check the oil, have it inspected by the RAA etc and go from there. 20k seems like a long time but it really depends on how the car was driven during that time. 20k of general everyday driving is alot different to 20k of getting a complete hammering.

yup, it was a lady owner and has the address in the logs books...maybe i should give her a ring
she did honda services upto 10K, then did the rest at some random place..
thing is, the oil has just been changed by the dealer as they just serviced that car at 55K. So, if i was to check the oil now, its not an indication of what it was before right?
