damn looking goot, you should ask the people were ever u got the bonnet from to fix the problem with your bonnet because they didnt do the job propely =/
May i ask you wat are u doing to your car next? :D

hmm think i saw ur car parked at N1 distribution down westall rd?... why not ask 'em

when u say "WONT CLOSE ALL THE WAY" is there no latch?... does it close? or just hover slightly about the latch... whats causing it to get stuck...

sounds like the latch isnt letting u close it all the way down?

fitment wise.. it all lines up around the sides evenly etc?

is not stuck. is just that the carbon fiber bonnet is too lite, it just hover above the latch.

with my oem bonnet i have to slame it, most honda u have to ,with my civic same problem, i have to hold it about 30cm high then drop it for bonnet for it to close all the way.

BUT NOW THE CARBON FIBER IS TOO LITE, it cannot close.

Push the bonnet down with the palm of your hand, push on the bonnet where the latch would be connecting to the bonnet at the end so you dont stress the carbon in the bonnet..

Never drop a carbon bonnet to close it.

thxs guys, but i still cannot close it. the spring in the latch is just too stiff.

is there a way i can ajust the spring??

typeRr

the carbon fiber bonnet fit perfectly into the latch, but the spring is too strong, with the oem bonnet, it weight like 20kg , i just drop the bonnet, and is got enough force to over come the spring:confused:

On the CF bonnet itself, there should be a bolt around the latch which lets you adjust the height of the latch. This should be around the metal plate which attaches underneath the CF/Fiberglass.

Man you need to twist em with some good force, and I mean FORCE!

here is the spring im talking about, the carbon fiber is too lite to over come this spring, usually with the oem bonnet, it's very heavy. i drop the bonnet, then it fit right in.

this is the spring.

i look at the photoes you provided but i dont understand how that spring holds your bonnet up ^_^.. that spring is only there so the latch locks back into place after your open it? is it not ? i saw some people say PUSH your bonnet down to lock it in but u keep saying something about dropping it and the weight difference.. STOP dropping it ^_^..

just put your bonnet down and push with the palm of your hands down where the latch is untill you hear a click. where the metal part in your bonnet will lock onto the other metal part of your car. its almost exactly the same workings as your car doors and boot

seriosly stop dropping your bonnet i get told of for doing it with my stock bonnet.^_^

your right, but my problem is my spring is too stiff, i cannot push it with my palm, with the oem bonnet i cannot push it by my palm either. i had to drop the oem bonnet. how do i make this spring looser so it can lock the bonnet in all the way.

i dont want to sound like a dick... but who the hell "Drop shuts" a CF bonnet? :thumbdwn: you will end up cracking it.

i know you are saying that with the OEM bonnet you can drop close it from 30cm height.
but with the Cf bonnet, you cant because there isnt enough weight.
it has NOTHING to do with the spring too stiff. you just have to know how to close it.

so...
the logical thing to do is...

1. rest the bonnet on the latch.
2. make sure the latch is aligned.
3. place two hands on the bonnet
4. push the bonnet down QUICKLY with your plams. ( dont push it slow)

thats strange i see my friend in the dc5 always push it down.. do you have that metal latch thing on the top of your bonnet ? its a silly question i know but it would be hard to lock it down without the locking mechanism =P just have to ask =P.

and if its that stiff ? is it also hard to push the locking mechanism with your finger to open the bonnet ?

i dont know if this is posible or not but can the lock thing be pushed open when your slowly close the bonnet so that the lock is open when you close the bonnet and let it go when it latches in? i know its imposible to do it on dc2 but im not entirely sure on a dc5. but do that in a way that its almost partially closed and in the lock befor you move your fingers out of the way to fully close it.. make any sense?

i think i just confused myself =P

I would have to agree. This guy does just not understand what he needs to do. If you cant work out how to use your hood you should probably return it.

yeh u said something about the bonnet pins, is that the 2 pins that u lock onto the bonnet and the car so then when u go at fast speeds ur bonnet dont flip up.?
cause i think u drill the hold some where around ur radiator support, or directly on top

Can you take a pic of the latch on the underside of the bonnet? They are normally adjustable for such problems that you are encountering.

You need to adjust the latch that is shown in your photo, there are 4 bolts which you losen, this then enables you to move the latch up and down. Move it up a little, tighten it, then close the bonnet and see if its any better. Repeat it if you need to go any higher. Also don't forget to adjust the rubber stoppers on either side, these screw in or out with your finger also to adjust the height of the bonnet.
