Hi guys, as above I have a set of dc2 vtir brakes id like to put on my eg with stock 14" vti alloys. I believe the discs are 262mm (same as eg vti) so in theory they should clear. I'm just wondering about the calipers if they clear. These are the wheels

Do you happen to know if I need to change the knuckles to fit the new calipers? My eg is a breeze fronts atm are the 242mm

Can ek1/Ek4 brakes be used on eg?

But the parts include bmc (15/16)+booster, knuckles and calipers+rotors 262mm

cheers

I already got the vtir brakes though, I'd say any setup with bigger disc also needs bigger knuckle to space out the caliper further. Do you still have any parts off that dc2?

@mugen_ctr: yes they can. but.

i just installed the brakes off an ek4 on my eg8. You need to have entire rear trailing assembly with handbrake cables off the ek. Also, you need the knuckles, rotors and calipers and brake lines off the front and its a fairly straight forward swap... if you can get balljoints apart intact. oh and yea the booster and mc too.

apologies for taking this off topic.

oh and the ek4 brakes will JUST fit under 14" wheels.

I'm pretty sure that's exactly the same parts required for dc2 vtir upgrade front and rear. Which is better?

cheers man, i was only talking in reference to the fronts lol, but hey it answered it, maybe i can convince my mate to buy my setup in the near future if i decided to go for 282mm setup

Honestly from what I've heard bigger discs aren't that important to a brake upgrade. Especially only a 20mm jump in size. If I didn't get these brakes for free I'd just run eg vti's on my eg with good pads. Slotted discs and braided lines

yeah i got the ek setup basically for free so thats why. next upgrade is the braided lines

I know i know lol, but ive got few plans for power upgrades, an will need better brakes to make it easier to engineer it in future

Fair enough. Just a heads up my eg with b18c7 is engineered with stock breeze brakes. It passed all brake fade tests. The main reason to upgrade is for track work when their going to cook IMO. Or if you just wanna be a baller lol but I'm too cheap for 5 stud conv

forget 5 stud lol, pay for the ITR calipers and rotors, and u be laughing, only go 5 stud if u cant find the rims or like u said to be a baller LOL

a calipers just a caliper

The calipers have nothing to do with the stud pattern. You can use itr calipers and keep your existing 4 stud hubs

Whoops sorry I meant to say rotors haha

not sure if u do have to buy new kunckles, when i was installing my dc2r caliper and 282 rotar it fitted it alright on my eg breeze, just needed to trim the dust covers, try it before u go out and spend money!

Rotors, u use prelude 4 by 114.3, redrilled for 4 by 100, or if u can spare some cash, get some new 282mm rotors for that stud pattern afaik

Ive been reading up that for ek, u need to shave like 3mm off the mounting brackets or was it the caliper, cant remember, but if it fits with little work, just makes things so much easier

3 mm off caliper yeh, then trim the dust covers a bit so the caliper fits in and rock a 282 mm yonas is selling a pair for $100 and there slotted!

Thanks guys, I'm going 262mm rotor so maybe I need to trim even less, fingers crossed

I dont believe u do need to shave anything if ur going for the ek 262mm rotor/caliper upgrade, but im sure someone else can shed more light on this

The reason why if going ITR caliper is that the offset of the bracket used on ITR is different to the ek by 3mm

Just to clarify it, ITR, EK9 both use the same caliper and brackets, were as Preludes and some other honda's all use the same calipers but different brackets.

Is ek 262 upgrade same as vtir dc2 262 upgrade?

sebtoombs

if you want to use ek 262mm rotors (i.e off en ek4) then you either need to swap the knuckle of shave some off the caliper.

Is ek 262 upgrade same as vtir dc2 262 upgrade?

I would say so, but i have heard that DC2 caliper uses a slightly larger piston than ek4, but im not %100 sure on that to be honest, unless some one has measured both ek4 and dc2 piston size, than id say there similar

sebtoombs

ek4 piston is 50mm OD. I've got one sitting right next to me :)
