Hey Guys,

I recently just got '10 Civic VTi, I was wondering what I could do to get some more power out of it. I love the car, it's quite zippy but I feel it could be better.

I've considered looking into an ECU tune but not sure how much it would cost or if its viable. And which exhaust system would be ideal?

Friend at work mentioned getting an anti-sway bar for the front for better handling.

I live in Brisbane, any help would be cool! :D

not much in terms of power gains from the r18 unless u look into forced induction. u could spend money on an intake system and an exhaust for basic mods, but they wont provide you with many gains. the exhausts from Js racing seem to be a popular choice for members here.

thanks for your replies guys, couldn't really find any j's racing except on jdmconcept from $560, is it possible at all to still keep the same stock twin exhaust pipes to keep it looking stock? or does that alter the overall performance?

Nope. Another option is to look up Varex muffler tips and have a custom cat back welded up.

the R18 doesn't have really high gains for NA engine, but it does have some potential: R18 NA build (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DpKSNGjTb0)

As the others have stated, the r18a does not have that much potential compared to the other engines. However if your willing to spend a fair amount of money it may give some decent gains.

So a cat back exhaust system is best for this particular civic?

Even if a catback gives you minor gains, you probably wont be able to feel much of a difference

go custom catback with twintip muffler. they look nice (especially the varex), but you won't get any real power gain

go for suspension mods - you'll notice a world of difference

Mikey like you I also thought it would be cool to extract a little more power, but reality is apart from a better airfilter ( it makes a slight difference at around 5500rpm, seems to smooth out the top end and maybe an 0.732 of a hp ! haha ) your money is better spent on a rear swaybar, better brake rotors pads and Tyres. I've done 3 of the 4 (just waiting on some pads to turn up) and the car is alot quicker where it counts. What you will notice as you upgrade components is that things like the shocks and springs are built for gramda to crash over roundabout, these will be next on my list. cheers

thanks for your replies guys! I ended up ordering a cold air intake from the US, a few guys on the 8th civic forum have installed the takeda cold air intake and said it's not much but theres a little gain in it.

Does anyone else have a cold air intake on their car? thoughts?

Go Power realeased the first performance camshaft for the R18a back in July. Not a cheap Mod but I'll be ordering one early next year with flashpro. Power seems perfect for track application. An extra 10-12hp at the top end will keep me happy !
