This is just a quick write up I have done to help anyone out there interested in using a B16A2 engine + EM1 engine harness (normally sold as a package) And the issues people might not know until they encounter them when trying to install the engine into an EK GLi 99-00.
If I have mistaken any information here please feel free to let me know and I will edit the original post to correct it.
Fact: The EK GLI 99-00 is obd2b 3 pin plug However the em1 is obd2b 2 pin ecu and 1 plug from the chassis harness which plugs to the ecu this plug is called plug 'A'.
If you do have all em1 running gear but dont have an em1 chassis harness then the best choice for you is If you get an ek4 engine harness (rare) then you will be able to run the b16 on your EK. This is ment to be all plug and play when you use the ek4 engine loom with EK chassis loom see below for other options
However if your able to locate an EM1 engine harness, chassis harness & ecu to suit then most of your troubles will be solved!
U have four options here:
Get an ek4 engine harness and use it with your b16 engine/keeping all stock looms from your EK (I am doing this and there are minor issues I still need to get rectified! You will need to change over the alternator plugs from
Obd2a into obd2b or get an obd2a alternator
Or
Get the em1 chassis harness and hook that up into your EK whilst using the em1 ecu + engine harness to make it work (never seen anyone do this but it seems like the reasonable option)
Or
Totally modify your d16 engine harness and re pin the plugs
Lastly
Get a conversion harness from most JDM outlets to suit the type of swap your doing.
Hope this helped!
