Cameron has become the offroad poster child for Yokohama in both his desert racing career as well as his fairly new venture into short course. Capturing the 2010 Pro Buggy championship in the LOORRS series in his rookie year, Cameron has excelled in all avenues of racing. Joining the Yokohama, Monster Energy, Stronghold Motorsports team this year, he is finishing with better than expected goals of top 5 or better. Cameron captured his first Prolite 1st place at LOORRS Rounds 9 & 10 at Glen Helen Motorsports Complex.

Heidi speaks on her return to San Felipe for another round of the SCORE series. With just 2 races left in the 2011 SCORE season and just a meer 6 point difference between 1st and 2nd place, the last two races will prove to be extremely important. Mark Burnett trails Heidi and with Heidi racing in familiar territory, she and the Desert Assassins crew have what it takes to lay down the fastest time and dominate the 4th round of the SCORE series. Listen in on Heidi's thoughts on her Yokohama Tyres and how they have become a key factor in her domination of the class 6 territory.

UPDATE: FULLERTON, CA. – (Sept. 11, 2011) – It was an exceptional day for the Steele family and Yokohama Tire Corporation at the Tecate SCORE San Felipe Challenge of Champions, September 10, in San Felipe, Baja, California, Mexico. Husband and wife team Cameron and Heidi Steele put on a show with Yokohama’s Geolandar® tyres. Heidi – battling severe stomach flu – won the Class 6 division (with a lot of help from co-driver and Desert Assassins teammate Rene Brugger and his son Richie), while Cameron finished fifth in the ultra-competitive Trophy Truck division, and seventh overall among all 77 racers.

“Rene deserves all the credit for this win,” said Heidi. “I could only drive a small part of the race because I was really sick. But Rene and his son stepped-up and drove our Yokohama tire-shod Ford Ranger to victory.”

This was the second win this season in San Felipe for San Clemente, California-based Heidi Steele and San Diego’s Brugger, who won on the same challenging course in March. This time they finished the 250-mile race on their off-the-shelf Yokohama Geolandar M/T+® tyres in 5:57:12.

“It worked out good for us, thanks to the Yokohama tyres handling the tough terrain and guiding us to victory,” said Heidi. “We’re pretty stoked to be in the points lead heading into the Baja 1000 in November.”

Cameron Steele teamed with Rick Geiser (Phoenix) and Cody Stuart (Capistrano Beach, California), to campaign their Geiser Brothers GMC Sierra (with new, custom-made 40-inch Geolandar tyres) to a season-best fifth place in 4:40:06.

“It was our first race on the 40-inch Yokohama Geolandar tyres,” said Cameron, “so we kind of used this race as a little bit of a tire test. It went really good. It’s cool to be here in the top five. We always want to win but this time there was a concentrated effort on making sure that we did a good job getting ready for the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000.”
