View Full Version : DIY Cup holder swap and stop sagging gear boot!

guy i know it may be shit to some... but i tryed this is my first DIY and hope some of you like it C&C welcome...


aim:
keep the wife happy... and look cool :)

tools:
Phillips head s/d

steps:
step one:

step two:

take the gear surround off by slowly pulling it up and back. no picture needed unless u ask ill get one

step three:

remove the 4 screws holding the console in place. put the new one in and replace the 4 screws 2 on each side then that lil unit will come out....http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac262/persafona/004-1.jpghttp://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac262/persafona/005.jpg


put the new on in its place and do the steps backwards

now at this point i have gotten the shits with my gear boot and hate how it sags so for a cheap (free) way off stopping it i put a rubber washer to hold it in place..

step four:

i put the surround and gear boot back in place.

step five:

put the locking nut and gear knob back on

and if you dont have any rubber washers use tape and keep going around till its able to stop it from sagging thats what i did with mine :)

Nice man ! but i just use a thick cable tie to hold my shift boot up :) it also gives the shift boot volume!

Haha, yeah, I used to also do this.. Got the idea from Ray's DIY back in the day.

Nice DIY, simple instructions. Both have already been done though.

+rep either way for the effort.

I personally prefer Ray's DIY where it was just a cable tie holding the boot up :D More easier to find one lying around.
