Noob keen on MDX ..consumption rate questions.

Hi ..apologies for the Noob post, I've searched but struggled to find anything which matches my query.

I want to purchase and 05/06 MDX. I understand this is a big fuel guzzler and that you MUST use the Premium Unleaded - which is 10% or so more expensive.

My main concern is that I'm worried that the fuel consumption may be a lot higher than the online resources state. Basically I am willing to accept that this car will average 12.9L/100 of Premium Unleaded (as it is several thousand cheaper than other similar cars - and therefore it will balance out). I don't know anybody who has one, so I'm just worried that it may actually consume a lot more than the 12.9L stated rate.


The servicing costs seem reasonable so the last thing is the fuel consumption.

Does anybody out there have any experience with these? I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Oh and...
The weakest link on the car is the auto tranny, prone to shitting itself. So check service history religiously.

Thanks for that. I definitely will check the service history, but not sure if the service history will actually show anything - apart from the general service details. I'm also going to pay for an RACV check. Thanks.

those links were great...I was amazed to read that you can actually use normal petrol. I thought Premium Unleaded was a MUST!.

Hmmm the US 87 aki rating is the equiv of 95 oct here I think

I Alternate Fuel on my MDX Ethonol / Regular / Premium and find City Driving I can get 12.5per 100KMs and I took the MDX up to QLD and was getting 9.8 per 100KMs with Premium

i loved these cars, prob one of the best cars ive sold! if my mrs civic gets written off im going to buy one of a friend that im actually trying to sell for them at the moment if that makes any sense? its a 2006, one of the last ones.
