someone crashed into the side of my jazz last night outside my friends house :(
now the back door is dented in

Anyone know which is cheaper? Going through insurance to get it fixed or go directly to a panel beater?

The guy who crashed into it left without leaving a notice :(

Depend on your insurance excess.

sorry to hear that.

yes .. all of the above.

also, check with your insurance company if the claim will affect your policy discount when it is time to pay the premium.

i brought my car in to the smash repair recently because of a bad scratch on the door (scratched a pillar).
i had to pay an excess of $500.. NRMA said it won't affect my policy discount.

simple man..take it a panel beater..a well known good one you trust..get a quote..if the quote is cheaper than the excess just pay it for personal accident...and dont touch insurance..coz everytime u lodge a claim will affect your rating..remember get different quotes..

Sorry to hear that...

Depending on your excess and also your insurance policy whether there is rating 1 protection (if you are rating one) which allows you to claim x times over x years.. etc.

If panel beater is cheaper than your excess.. then I would pay the panel beaters...

Hit and run situation.. Hmmm..

asiansquad
15-02-2005, 07:12 PM
insurance is under my parents name...so it's rating 1, excess fee should be around 450

but i think it'll cost around 200 - 300 to fix my door

gonna go to a few panel beaters this week to get a quote

wyl03
15-02-2005, 07:31 PM
200 ~ 300?

oooo ... i doubt so. it's so damn freakin' expensive just to get a small ding fixed it's not funny. :thumbdwn:

some "red" car scrapped my front right corner at Box Hill carpark 2 weeks ago, I know its a red car cos there were red paint left behind...... No Notes were left behind, I went to the security office, they say there are only limited number of cameras in the carpark, they won't be bothered to go through the tapes....... :(

but I managed to get rid all the markings and red paint, lucky my paint wasn't really damaged......

MRFIT

ye, if u r getting the whole door re-sprayed...... you pay for what you get...... cheap jobs will show over time.....

get insurance then.... ask them to replace the door instead of just re-spray

First go get a quote. Quotes for insurance and private are different, higher for insurance of course. U can try these places, Heng Cheong (Very very very cheap for private, work rating 7 out of 10, can be better if willing to pay a bit more), Auswide (Better than HengCheong) and there is a new place that i never tried at BoxHill (I can check it out if u want). Dont rush.
Both insurance and private job are under warranty.

Second your insurance. Check excess of course. What's ur insurance company? For most insurance companies, u cant tell them wat u wan. Such as i want a new door skin instead of it being repaired. Both the panel shop and insurance will assess the damage to determine that. If they think damage not serious enough to replace door skin, they wont approve it. Insurance com wanna save as much money as possible.

By the way, do u mind going to an asian panel shop? If u wanna know more about wat to do let me know... i know a bit about this matter... :D

Zimp13 is quite true...

Another place you can try getting a quote is :- Look for Vincent..

"Both insurance and private job are under warranty" is not that true

I went to Heng Cheong and Auswide before and got problem with the job, they fix the car again. In wat way is it not true? There might be some dodgy panel shops who did a dodgy job and refused to fix the problem, but there are certainly good panel shops as well. "IS NOT TRUE" is generalisation. U can also make a complain at the small claim tribunal if u think that u have been unfairly treated. Just remember to keep ur receipt as a proof.
