Once you boost cams are really just wasting cash... If there free than yes they can aid in revving out a bit more

Also worth noting that your adding more pressure to the motor for only the smallest of gains!

Ether build for boost or don't leave it alone IMO

you have them and if they are drop in cams, yeah y the hell not
you will gain a little, but u will need to retune

Have a read here. I think they are only recommended for built engines and big boost/big turbo applications.

No

I said...

If you happened to have some lying round and your bored through em in!

Then drive slowly to your tuner hand him a big stack of cash then wait...!

Then drive home hard on boost while playing my fav game.. Does it feel any difference ... oh wow the taco goes up a little bit higher.

Once home, go inside and put the footy on and hope your teams winning so the above question fades away hahah

Thanks for the info guys I'll chuck them in and see how they go.. I got the setup that limbo had forsale so I know what he made with the parts he had.. I'll post it in my build thread once I got all the parts together.. can't wait wil be my first boosted car I've owned :)

Dont you have an engine builder/tuner with half a clue to guide you opposed to people who are not mechanics with little to none helping make your decision for you?

What works n/a will work turbo as a rough rule, so yes, even though under boost the cams will be beneficial but it would also come down to the engine specs, turbo being used, throttle response or lag time you are willing to put up with or want, along with many other things, consult your builder please, if he has no idea, change your builder, and prior to all of the above, dont buy any parts until you have a goal and budget in mind as more often than not, you end up with a plie of parts that wont do the job you want them to do and often spend more money then you needed too.

Being familiar with Limbo's previous set-up, then yes, the engine would benefit from some decent head work and cams added to it if done right.

Hao, (Limbo) is a good mate of mine; we built our kits round the same time back in the day though I do all my own mech work...

He used to rave on about his cams mid range and dyno sheets now and then lol
I told him back them he’s wasting his time and money and now I’m telling you..

His car EK4 B16 turbo with cams 170kw PB 14.0
My car EG5 B16 turbo stock internals 160kw 13.2

Seriously don't bother with the cams man! There’s just so many other better opts out there

lol, that quite a generalisation you have made there Luke between 2 different engines so not all that helpful to the OP

So can i assume they ran the same capacity, compression, inet and exhaust design along with turbo and other associated parts that has you at this conclusion as to power cams will yeild on a build?

Im fairly familiar with your build also though, they are both smaller builds, but a set of cams and proper service would benefit any turbo engine even smaller ones as they benefit from the increased lift and duration, when you start talking very big cams, then you start to border on a different conversation but that isnt the case here, maybe check out us forums were you can view results of people having type r or $400 blox cams v stock dyno results and its obvious they make a big enough difference to make most upgrade them, especially if he has them at his disposal but getting his advice should come from who he is dealing with, especially considering half the issue with changing cams is so many have trouble timing them properly.

ITR CAMS + E85 = power :)

If your planning E85 you can run more boost :).

That's my point, just up the boost a tad and forget the rest till a proper builds planed

They were very close dude!

in fact I ended up with his HKS log mainifold... when he upgraded to custom turbo mainifold

We were both 160kw till the mainifold change..
so the extra power was not due to cams anyway!

Yes yes I've seen those US wounder dyno sheets but a few higher RPMs points mid range just doesn't excite me when comparing import time and effort
