then why are you here?

i think alot of people may want discretion in their modifications, you would want to encourage build threads as it gives an insight into why a person chooses a particular product and the feedback they have on it.

Next mods = fuel pump, surge tank, bleed valve for turbo, run 16psi, brakes, and diff maybe...

GU357
03-10-2011, 02:16 PM

threesix
05-10-2011, 02:09 PM
^^POWA!!!!!!!

should start a big mans/small car club. lol dont have anything to compensate for! hehehe

even though i drive a civic it has the jazz 1.3 :(

ss-rotel
05-10-2011, 02:15 PM
you know... engine's built to run 16psi, once i do the fuel pump, surge tank, and boost control, we should be pushing something around the 275-290bhp. that'll be fun
The turbo used is a little big, and good for 300-400bhp. thou garret rate it 1.5-2.0L

one day when i have the cash, i'll get it hi-flowed, and swap it with the one on my VW tiguan, (same engine that's in the mk6 GTi).
That thing re-tuned without any mods will make 200kw and 410nm torque. turbo and intercooler upgrade and it makes 280kw and upwards of 500nm, all 4WD and mine has the 6speed DSG. pretty amazing bit of gear, considering they start @ 38K + onroads for the manual

threesix
05-10-2011, 02:18 PM
i wonde if the turbo kits for the jazz would fit my civic. its the same engine.

not that i would do it. just saying..

fillit
05-10-2011, 04:59 PM
you put an L13A into an eg/ek?????????

there must be like 15 better engines available

GU357
05-10-2011, 07:42 PM
yeh why is an l13 in a civic?
makes more sense to have a B-Series

either way im sure their would be the space considering the civic probs had a 1.6L to begin with.
but do they make a bolt on for the 1.3?

ive only seen em for the l15A1

GU357

not for the price i got this...

5.5/100k's fmw.

mmm... tbh 5.5/100kms is not much less than say a stock jazz under normal conditions (i think like low 6L?) but the price difference is hard to justify..

did you consider a diesel golf or whatnot?

GU357
06-10-2011, 11:24 PM
if only they still had those electric cars, those things MOVE!!!
insane acceleration apparently, but they recalled them all and seemed to do a really bad job marketing them in the USA

looks better than most cars in that price range.

i am old and want fuel econ over anything.

GU357
07-10-2011, 01:38 AM
when im off my P's and insurance becomes reasonable.

im gonna try get a honda that packs a punch, maybe a tuned eg with turbo b18 or a standard s2k and have fun doing up the handling, love the way the look at stock.

fuel is cheap, public transport and parking is expensive...

i've just changed jobs from working in suburbia to in the CBD, public transport hurts my pocket way more than my car ever has.

GU357
08-10-2011, 05:42 PM
yeh but u see having ur engine shut off straight away before idling down is bad for it.
i would prefer if it waited abt 15secs then shut down.

either way i probably drive alot more then you guys, i do about 800kms every 5-6days.

GU357
08-10-2011, 06:02 PM

i doubt honda (japan) would make the hybrid like that if it was bad for the engine. the engine shut off feature is the best thing since sliced pizza for saving fuel.

shouldnt you have a Made In Thailand sticker instead? :) i should get one of your stickers seeings that it IS made in japan. lolz

GU357
09-10-2011, 01:32 AM
no mines an 03 JDM one ahaha!

all 06+ is TH made

and no its not great for the engine. wont do any immediate damage but dont expect the engine to do like a million K's
in the very long run its not good for it. like revving up a cold engine

threesix
09-10-2011, 01:33 AM

GU357

09-10-2011, 02:41 AM

05+ is thailand made, also no engine will do a million kms without a recon/rebuild, needless to say 50 other things will go wrong before then.

16x8.5 all round and DUMP it. ;) ;)

don't forget -5 camber, you need around +10 offset or so to clear the struts and pull the fenders, unfortunately jazz is a hard car to stance because there is a limited amount of rims in 4x100 (in low offset), if you are determined for stance style then invest in a set of 4x114.3 adapters and get some rims with crazy offset.

threesix
09-10-2011, 11:31 AM
one of the OG's in the 2001+ civic thread always said "you can make anything fit" lol

i know fitting 9" wide rims on my civic took some effort for me to be able to carry 4 people without scrubbing!!!

ive seen some pretty crazy Fits in the states. half are probaby on bags though.

GU357
09-10-2011, 12:29 PM
no im leaving it there cos i like it.
:P

and the pic doesnt show how low it really is, you cant even really stick a whole finger in there,

... FINE

threesix
09-10-2011, 12:38 PM
didnt mean to be a kill joy or pay you out.

if you like it leave it there ;)

its just your car is like a 4x4 in the stanceworks world. but you drive 800ks a week so fuction is a must

GU357
10-10-2011, 03:11 AM
uhmm i found that the C bar and the cross bars are pretty simular,
good chance you can use 2 J's racing C pillar bars.

if your in perth we can meet up and ill show you where everything goes, kinda hard to find the holes that the thing goes in.

ss-rotel
11-10-2011, 11:04 AM
GU - Does al the bracing make a difference? the C pillar was going to be my next mod, with the front and rear lower strut bracing, (not that i need more clearence issues...), but i've found the front end mods i've done sooo far have been perfect.

GU357
11-10-2011, 12:15 PM
i did it more for cosmetics, but it does make some difference, the back is noticabley stiffer and moves more like a solid unit.

GU357

ss-rotel
18-11-2011, 07:31 PM
what camera were you using?

BTW, last nite raced a 09, (?) WRX, sounded like a full exhaust, pod filter, mags, lowered....

Got him @ the lights, managed to grab and keep 1/2 car length until about 70, then started to pull away in 3rd gear... he was pretty impressed... being beaten by a Jazz :)

Raced a DC5 type R today on the way home... destroyed him... REALLY starting to think the jazz is a mid to low 13sec car... :)

woot

GU357
18-11-2011, 08:09 PM

Lol. I have to find if I have old pics of my jazz before I sold it. Lowered the car with a spoon N1 muffler and just a pod filter. I have to admit I still feel kinda sad selling it though. But then again. I got an EK that I always wanted.

Bottom line is that regardless I still think the jazz is one of the best rides I will ever own :)

its a yellow stick they put on ur windscreen.

can they defect you for cross bars?

GU357
04-12-2011, 02:18 AM
Well its bars going through the cab and they arent ADR so they can.
unless u argue that they are stabilizer bars but the cops probs wont listen.
Sounds like he was pulled over for the excessive noise his car makes, header system followed by straight pipe absolutely no restriction AHAHA.

fillit
04-12-2011, 04:57 PM
lol but with that argument, they can defect you for strut bars too?

GU357
04-12-2011, 07:27 PM
yep, its not a stock chassis component.

sPoOnD_
05-12-2011, 04:18 PM
yeah they basically are stabilizer bars but its just the way it looks they didnt really believe me.

and yeah i did get pulled over for making too much noise haha and they searched the car and found some monkeys bars in the car :(

GU357
06-12-2011, 02:13 AM
yeh, maybe try rap them in something black so they dont stand out, and uhmm get a muffler LOL

ss-rotel
06-12-2011, 08:59 PM
i would have argued that they are removeable and you were on your way home from a track meet...

Hey... raced a Mk5 Golf GTi today... got me off the mark, about 1.5 car lengths... but i think i upset him when i passed him spinning both wheels in 2nd gear... :)

i have a Js racing one. they dont fit properly... it comes with the short antenna and this thing that looks like a cylinder/cone so that the antenna looks to match the car. (hard to explain) but the cone doesnt fit with the antenna on there. theres not enough thread or its not wide enough i cant remember exactly.

but if u get the antenna get a piece of black rubber hose and cut it thin so it fits well, the antenna has too much thread for the car and so u can see it sticking out.

SRI is always better. the K&N is better then the standard but it still restricted by the poorly designed stock intake.

you wont notice any difference with the K&N drop in, the only advantage it has is that its rewashable and reusable.

Hey, i was running a drop in filter on my 2005, seemed to make a little difference, 1-2kw, only really noticable under load, binning the stock muffler for something Aftermarket will cost about the same with great results. stock's pretty restrictive top end RPM.

SRI's ok, as long as you can get cool air to the filter. if it's sucking HOT engine bay air, then you may no gain anything, even loss some power ona hot day. CAI is a better option for performance, but watch for puddles.

in my 2003 model, the battery was set in a way that, once the filter box was removed, it acted like a heat barrier, but 2005 models the battery's in a different location.

anyway... there's lots of room behind the fender, if you feel up to pulling it off and getting @ the intact for the airbox with a dremel.

i wouldnt recommend sticker bombing with these in the future.
although they were sold by JDM sticker boy they are not really automotive vinyl feels more like a cheap paper sticker u find in kids colouring books.
pretty dissapointing.

but i proceeded anyway. being paper they didnt bend around corners and would not respond to heat so they are kinda folded and stuff around the edges. but from a distance i think it looks ok.

Ummm... i dont know about you, but dont those springs sit on the trailing arm, and not around the strut? they'll just be that way in the box for shipping.

IF those springs ARE from a coilover set, the platform will only bring the hight up, so if you want it super low, you dont need it, speaking from my setup... hey... don't you have a set of Kings springs already? if you just after a handling upgrade, and not worried about the height too much, use the king springs in the back, (which are constant rate and will be much firmer than the one's pictured), and run the shocks and front coilovers.

make the front a little lower than the back, and you'll lift-off-overstear like a pro :)

OR talk to King Springs or TEIN, (fulcrum), and see if they can organize you a set of platforms. ummm... you MIGHT be able to use the ones from a Commodore Wagon/ute prety sure they are about the same size, OR you should be able to get a set of pre-tension springs to keep the springs trapped if tha'ts not going to work...

U got the auto?
Hard to get that low rumble from a cvt but it u have a good muffler and large bore exhaust u should get it.
And i don't mean a cannon, I mean a fairly restrictive one with a big Ass pipe. But that would screw your performance up. U will lose low down torque.
turbo cars get it because the turbo acts a restrcition and have a large pipe after creates that echoing low brrrrrrrr
Imo homeward don't suit that noise. U want it to scream at vtec so u would want a his silent style because that sounds great but only when revving.
But It's personal choice.

Yeah i heard it frees up the exhaust a bit...don't really notice it tbh, well you can't unless your very sensitive anyways.

Its not that loud as well and has a really good tone to it . surprised but maybe cause the rest is the stock system, sounds better then my dc2

GU357
14-04-2012, 03:14 PM
yeh, i think it was.
the original exhaust manifold gasket is compressed steel, and the exhaust bloke said the hardest part was taking the old one off and out, since theres little room in the engine bay its hard to get the old headers out of the way, turns out they come out from the top after removing the cables n stuff. he didnt say it was hard to fit the new ones, so i would say its very bolt on. only problem is u lose your heatshield, and the headers let a fair bit into the engine bay. but i have a dash scoop coming to let more air in to balance the situation.

Seeing that you're from melb too I suggest inboxing "stndrd" as he can get springs quiet easily as well as coilovers if you're willing to spend some more.

By the way what's the softest coilovers around? Right now I'm running Advance Coilovers they're hella stiff! I'm not too sure about the spring rates. Would swapping springs be an option for making my coilovers less stiff?

GU357
26-04-2012, 10:07 PM
yes, u can swap them then just re adjust the height to suit. depending on design and how much adjustment there is u could even put original springs back on, and still lower it.
in theory but it would probably be quite hard as the springs are large. but maybe get some softer king springs and drop them in.

ehh, make sure the springs dont have any pre tension. take a picture of the strut style and show me. also try throwing softer spring in there which or nearly as short as the ones that come on it.

Raising the car up higher does help with ride comfort. Because the shocks will have more room to absorb shock when you go over humps and things if you know what i mean. Swapping softer springs will help i guess? I was planning on that but haven't gotten around to it...

WHAT?!?! 1K for a full kit!? I'm damn interested!! Will be turbo'ing my jazz as soon as im off P's or will be switching to a already turbo'd car from factory.

Wonder if jazz can handle supercharge turbo just like the current audi S4's
Would love to do it if i have the money when im off p's

a turbo and supercharge setup be too expensive. lancia did it on one of their cars but it is like HEY LOOK AT ME WE DID IT. better off one or the other. or else it becomes complicated and space consuming.
