Few things I would like to get info for.. if you guys could help.
I plan on getting an XCARLINK for my CL9 ( 05 Lux) soon, but im not sure which one or where.. I tried googling but I keep finding different things, could someone please link me to it?

Also, I'm planning on upgrading the front splits and rear speakers (with 6x9's) with JL Audio and wiring to an amp (JL). Now I know the car already has Bose speakers stock, just curious, will the JL Audio make a significant difference in sound quality/loudness?
Cos it'll set me back like 900 including install so I wanna make sure it's worth it lol

- dont pay for install DIY (Y)
- this guy is selling a cheap xcarlink
http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?151223-CL9-Accord-Euro-Parts!!!-%96-Hondata-Headers-Ingalls

-you could get it from ebay

im running on stock speakers and i think all they needed was that extra bass so i got a sub and amp was enough for me

I would suggest some decent splits for the front some 6" for the rear doors and a sub all running on 2 amps one monoblock one 4 channel. would suggest a new headunit as opposed to a low output converter on stock headunit.

the reason I suggest 6" for the doors I got 6x9 and get some pretty insane parcel tray rattle and 6x9s are made redundant with a sub any way.

Thanks Deific!
Oh really? See, im really happy with overall bass/sound quality. All I really want though.. is just make it louder haha :P Like, LOUD. I usually have it on 25-33 when I drive, and I feel its pretty loud, but yeah want it even louder haha.

Yeah marquee I noticed that as well, the stock system gives you a fair bit of rattle, but im not sure if that's just my speakers blown or just how it is.. I don't think im gonna change the rear door speakers just yet though, just the front ones, and the rear ones. Not 100% sure about a sub though, because I do plan on selling the car later down the track... and just not sure about a sub. And definitely not gonna put in a new headunit..

did u buy your car second hand? maybe the previous owner put in aftermarket splits in the rear doors?! cause from what i know from previous threads im pretty sure that they dont come with speakers in the rear doors.

also.. is xcarlink better? or Icelink?

a lot of people have xcarlink so seems to be the more popular option, never heard of icelink..

Im running pretty much the exact Set up (Jl Audio) that your thinking about getting. i have front splits running off a 4 channel amp, with a jl sub and a jl monoblock amp. currently ive disconnected my stock 6x9's and one thing for sure is tht this setup completely blows the stock system out of the water in terms of clarity (which is what you should be looking for when u upgrade your system unles ur a fully sick cuz type of guy that wants max bass)
i would definately recommend JL setups bcause the difference in performance is amazing.

Trust me guys, the rear doors have speakers in them, and they work. It's more vocals stuff, that comes out of them. Probably only the LUX ones have them.

@Sertkiz, yeah sounds almost identical! The whole package costs (RRP) like $1400, but I work at JB Hi Fi so I get cost price, and so it totals me around $970 :D
Also, do you think you could send me a pic of your setup for your sub? Just out of curiosity. Was the sub a messy installation? Cos i might , might.. sell my euro down the track for an upgrade, and obviously selling it with a sub is hard, just wondering if you can remove the sub without anyone noticing there ever was one in there, if you know what I mean lol

Yea you can just mount the sub in a box get some valcro mount it to the box and carpet or dont mount it at all

pretty sure the rear door speakers are fakies

afgmoh
01-10-2011, 06:30 PM
wow, trust me the rear door speakers aren't fake and have sound coming out of them from the factory. It's a 6 speaker system. Front splits (x2), rear doors (x2), 6x9's (x2) - 2+2+2 = 6.

Honda claim a 6 speaker sound system for the Euro as they count the front 2-way splits as 4 speakers total (2 speakers + 2 tweeters). Definitely no speakers in the rear doors in my 07 Lux - there's a speaker grille, but no sound coming out of it, nor do I see anything when I shine a torch in. From my understanding, the "true" 6 speaker option (2 front splits (incl 2 tweeters), 2 rear door speakers, 2 6x9s in parcel shelf) was bundled with the factory amplified premium sound option; an option we never got in Australia.

But hey, if you can get pics of your setup, I'd love to be proved wrong! Could be an audio install from a previous owner, could even be a misbuild from Honda, who knows.

afgmoh
01-10-2011, 10:36 PM
hmm.. then I guess it really was the previous owner who chucked them in.. cos I have the large circle grill for it, and I hear sound coming out. I'd take pics or even try to open it to show you but i'm no expert and have no idea how to do that hahaha :P
But anywaaaaay, on to the main topic and to make sure.. JL Audio upgrade > Bose stock system? Worth the upgrade?

The sound system would add value in my opinion, the sub i'd take out though and keep for myself, or sell.

To be honest nothing you do will add value no matter how much better it is

+1 on this! i guess it mainly depends if u decide to sell private or dealership

afgmoh
12-10-2011, 03:06 PM
I'd be selling private, there's no way a dealer would give you decent money for a car, ever. But hey, depending on who's buying it, it'll add value. For example a P plater, they'd love it. Old people though, obviously don't give a shit haha

i have an 05 lux, no speakers in my rear doors but i did buy it from a dealer and an old guy owned it from new haha. Since i've owned it i've fitted an after market single din dash conversion kit from USA (replaces stacker and air con unit), have a single din clarion screen in there, i have focal splits up front, focal 6x9's in the parcel, kicker L7 sub, focal solid 4 amp running the splits and 6x9's, focal 750.1 mono block for the sub. All doors are sound deadened with dynamat, including resonance bats in the front doors. Parcel tray has 2 layers of sound deadening and also some of the boot is deadened too. I figure why buy top end gear and not sound deaden it, like buying a ferrari and using shell servo oil in it haha. You get what i mean though. Next purchase will be a graphic equaliser as the clarion screen is very very limited in tuning potential. Still sounds amazing but certain things i want to be able to fiddle with a bit better.

yea i got my setup for around $1000 from jb hifi aswel, ill take some photos today and send them to you, basically the sub is not mounted to the floor in any way incase i wana remove it down the track,i DOUBT it will move around unless i drive like an absolute F*%*head..:)
BUT my amplifier is mounted on the roof of my boot upside down pretty much next to the right 6x9 speaker , soo it is out of the way and easily accessible.
i have no loose wires anywhere, the whole installation cost about $250 from Kim Car Audio in canley vale, top job i would recommend them to anyone.
definately a good choice mate

should have DIY!

DIY and then blow my amps/sub from doing something wrong? or spend the extra bux gettin a proper clean installation with 3 years warranty if anything goes wrong?

if your going to spend big $$$ on a system, why turn into a cheapskate when it comes to installation??

30-10-2011, 06:42 PM
Well, just bought my system yesterday guys. JL front splits, JL 6x9's and JL 12" sub with JL 4chan amp (from JB). With Kicker cabling... Decided to keep stock head unit, from what the JB guy said it should be fine... but anyone else have some feedback with amps and stock head unit?

TRaNz
30-10-2011, 06:50 PM
u require a Line Output Converter to use the stock HU, coz you'll hear a lot of static noise hissing.
Im assuming the speakers will run off the 4 chan amp and you have a mono amp for the sub already?

DEIFIC
30-10-2011, 08:25 PM
U need a high to low converter that's what I have. (Y) then just tap the wires of the rear speakers and splits.

jbhifi is very overpriced...saw a double din deck for $329 and the rrp is $299 :S sound master has it for $229. jb has advertisements saying hot price and its the rrp? lol people mainly shop their because its slightly more convenient. just my 2c

DEIFIC

that's true I was actually able to talk the guy down from rrp about $50 so they're ok like that.

afgmoh
30-10-2011, 10:41 PM
so getting a convertor will let me use stock headunit and cancel out the static bullshit? Nah, im gonna have the fronts run off the amp alongside the sub. And the 6x9s just on their own.
And guys, I work at JB, we're not overpriced trust me haha. Remember, usually in retail there's at least 150% markup due to profit making, otherwise it's pointless to sell items. Just haggle, usually gets it done well haha

DEIFIC

That is correct. Well then you just tap the front speaker wires.
Tip; you need to solder this shit can't do the cheapy twist and use electrical tape!!

Oh nevermind, I spoke with the installer at JB. He said all new JL amps have been designed to remove the need of that, and works fine with stock headunits. So i'm all sweet :)

Nah I can guarantee that you don't need one, the guy at JB put mine in a while ago (this goes for MY system).

JL Audio (and even Kicker) are designed to work well with factory head units, which is why you don't need this converter. I can guarantee you this as mine is working incredibly well without one. I can have my music up to 38 (out of the 40) on Volume control without distortion listening to House/Electro style music.

I pulled out my rear door trims the other day to replace or check for speakers and found that there was not speakers in the rear doors. There was a Blank cover behind the speaker grill that was held by 3 screws and a Factory Foam cover over the speaker holes.

I managed to open the foam cover with a Stanly knife and surprisingly found a factory speaker connection tucked in. So I ended up installing new aftermarket 6's in the door and plug them into the factory connection. I tested in out and the speaker did not make a sound. I even tried the factory speakers that was from the front doors and plug that in (had the same connection as the fronts) and still did not work!

Anyone know why? is there a fuse to check or add or a connection somewhere to enable the rear door speakers?

I have also used the RCA Converter aswell on my Factory Unit for installation of Amp & Sub and it works perfect with no interference what so ever

best advice: get an aftermarket head deck put in below the OEM one
youll never get rid of the static and battery noise using the OEM head deck with a high powered audio system
i was stubborn and wanted to use the stock deck....cost me big $$$$ when all i needed was a new deck, money blown away for nothing

I was exactly the same, even with line converters the hiss was still there (though even worse without them) and was enough to bother me.
