Hi Folks,

Just wanting to know if there are any gains in using a JDM CTR EK9 OBD2A ECU into an B16A EM1 OBD2B??

EM1 Specs;
DC Sports 4-1 2.5inch collector zorst - twin loops
Weapon R Short Ram intake
SARD FPR @ 40psi
Walhbro FP
EK9 LSD Gbox

CTR Cams / valve springs/retainers (coming soon)

Are there any gains/losses in power/torque etc?

Will i have any issues with current immobiliser? as the JDM CTR apparently do not have immobiliser... (unsure).

also i am already aware that a OBD2B to OBD2A conversion harness is required (Rywire or similar).

EDIT: dont really want to buy an tunable ECU as i have plans in a K-series transplant down the line. - CTR ECU was from an old B-series project which has been sitting in my boot collecting dust.

Can someone shed some light?

thanks

Better off getting a tunable ecu like crome or hondata

ikr - but i have plans in a K-series transplant down the line....hence why i dont want to buy a hondata or similar as yet.

this CTR ECU has been in my boot from a B-series project i had yonkers ago ...so why not use it? lol

CTR ECU would be OBDIIb

as mentioned above, get a S300 or something similar

Was just waiting for you to come on! LOL

should of posted a pic of the ECU, the label on the ECU says 37xxxx-PCT-xxxx ?

one day i tried plugging in the ECU to my existing plugs and no go, ...so thats why i assumed its a 96-98 JDM CTR ECU - OBD2A ..

yes S300 would be ideal - but if im going K-series down the line then it would be pointless to have now, where i would have to buy a K-Flash pro moving forward.

still no one has advised whether is this proposed temp plan will work or not, gains/losses but got responses to use other ecu (which i am already aware of the options) :)

thanks guys ...any more thoughts?

if its the PCT ECU then its OBDIIb

your EM1 is OBDIIb

so the ECU should be a direct plug in

Ahh

CTR ECU is P2T

PCT ECU is from EK4

that ECU is OBDIIa

I dunno bro according to this P2T is from civic Si 99-00 (em1) and PCT is 98+ civic JDM ITR....

The middle three characters are the most useful to identify what the ECU is. Different generation ECUs may use the same characters. e.g. a P72 OBD I ECU is different from a P72 OBD II ECU. Here is a list of common ECUs:
PG6 : 88-89 Integra (all makes)
PM5 : 88-91 Civic/CRX DX
PM6 : 88-91 Civic/CRX SOHC Si
PM7 : 89-91 DOHC ZC (JDM 'EF' ECU)
PM8 : 88-91 CRX HF
PR2 : 89-91 ZC (Euro)
PR3 : 89-91 JDM B16A EF8/9
PR3 -J00 or J51 : 92 JDM Integra B16A EF8/9
PW0 : 89-91 JDM B16A EF8/9 DA6-XSi
PR4 : 90-91 Integra LS/GS
PS9 : 88-91 4 door Civic EX Auto
P05 : 92-95 OBD-1 Civic CX
P06 : 92-95 OBD-1 Civic DX
P07 : 92-95 OBD-1 Civic VX
P08 : 92-95 OBD-1 Civic D15 JDM
P0A : 94-95 OBD-1 Accord EX
P13 : 93-95 OBD-1 Prelude Vtec
P14 : 93-95 OBD-1 Prelude Si (non Vtec)
P27 : 92-95 OBD-1 EG JDM Civic 1600 sohc
P28 : 92-95 OBD-1 Civic Si/Ex
P30 : 92-95 OBD-1 DelSol DOHC Vtec Si/EG SiR
P54-G31 : 1997 Honda Accord 1.8 LS
P61 : 92-93 OBD-1 Integra GSR
P72 : 94-95 OBD-1 Integra GSR
P72 : 96-00 OBD-2 Integra GSR
P73 : 96-00 OBD-2 Integra Type-R (JDM & USDM)
P74/75: 92-95 OBD-1 Integra LS/GS
P75 : 96-00 OBD-2 Integra LS/GS
P2N : 96+ OBD-2 Civic HX Coupe
P2P : 96+ OBD-2 Civic EX Coupe
P2E : 96+ OBD-2 Civic DX Coupe
P2M : 96+ OBD-2 NZ Civic SOHC VTEC
P2T : 99+ OBD-2b Civic Si Coupe
P5P : 97-00 OBD-2 Prelude Type-S (JDM ECU)
PBA : 97+ US Acura 1.6EL
PCT : 98+ JDM ITR / CTR
PCX : 99+ OBD-? S2000

Still the question is will it work on an EM1 any gains/losses??

EK4 uses a P2T ECU (OBD2a)

PCT ECU is from an EK9 Civic Type-R and there would be 2 versions. One for pre-facelift 97-98 (OBD2a) and one for facelift 99-00 (OBD2b)

Unless you already had the conversion harness, wouldn't bother..

nah my loom / harness is OBD2B ...which means ill have to get a conversion harness.

sweet ...now we got that confirmed...

will there be any gains/losses using this CTR OBD2A ecu? apart from a conversion harness plug but power changes?
