Hey guys,

So me and a mate are looking at supercharging our egb18cr project, does anyone know what kits are available? How much? And who can install it/tune it?

Also do i need to upgrade any engine internals etc?

Currently running n/a setup with i/h/e/toda spec a cams. Tuned to 125kw/atw

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks

good performance centre @ yennora did the jackson racing kit on my b20vtec/DC2. you could go for a vortech kit but you wont reach full boost till red line(gear change) although it will make more top end power. the twinscrew kits will offer peak boost pretty much from idle. with a meaty'er low to mid range and a torque'r feel.

its also good to upgrade to forged connecting rods and pistons. with the pistons it is common to choose lower comp pistons such as 8 to 10 compression. but going to low will make it real low down dog. but it all depends on how much boost your gonna run?

when boosting a engine your increasing the dynamic compression ratio. which is different to the static comp ratio. 1lbs boost is equal to 1.01 compression or is it the other way round?, any way dropping the static comp will decrease the chance of engine failure. and dynamic comp is measured when the engine is turning over and is calculated by factors such as camshaft duration, piston sweep, boost(if applicable) and static comp in a complicated formula.

here's an example say an engine with 10 static comp + 8lbs boost = 18.08 static comp but when calculating in the cam duration(how long the valves stay open) and the piston sweep(how far the piston has risen from BDC[bottom dead centre]) the dynamic comp may only be 16.02

to the OZhonda comunity. please if any of my info is incorrect please correct me?

hey man, i just finished supercharging my JDM DC2R b18cr, i have a very similar setup to you at the moment, modification wise, im sitting on 125kw also.

i had an injen intake, and i have chosen to go back to the standard intake with a KNN filter, as i wanted a stock looking intake, if you have an injen intake this will begin to rob power then give it as the intake track is too long. im thinking of maybe returning to the whale doodle intake or something similar to see the power differences over stock

if you chose to go ahead with it, allow alot more time then you think it will take, as as usual you notice broken things and decide to upgrade things as you go along. this isnt a bad thing! just take it slow and do anything you think might help down the track.

i went with the JACKSON RACING supercharger kit, and got the big boost upgrade, i havnt had a chance to drive it as yet, as im currently doing some body work :)

however the sound of it on idle is to die for, seems to rev alot quicker, ( as i said car is not driving only starting )

i read, on paper it's 222hp/166.5kW but that could be exaggerated.
