Hey guys, im looking to purchase an integra dc2. previous owner was planning on tracking it so its unregistered, just wondering if vicroads actually has to inspect the car themselves since its unregistered at the moment? or is it the same as transferring rego where you just need a rwc?

Cheers in advance

You need a permit to drive the car for RWC, then you need appointment in vic road to inspect the car.
They will check the car( they check VIN NUMBER and Engine number) you will pay registration fees( which is around 760$ for 1000$ car) this amount will increase depend on the car value you put.
check this link (http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/Home/Registration/WhatHasToBeRegistered/HowToRegisterYourVehicle/LightVehicleRegistration.htm)
Initial Registration Fees - Secondhand Light Motor Vehicle (http://webapps.vicroads.vic.gov.au/vrne/VRCALC.NSF/fee?OpenForm#calc1)
Btw check Check before you buy the car if it's written off or stolen or whatever (http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/Home/Registration/BuySellTransferVehicles/BuyingPrePurchaseChecks/CheckVehicleDetailsBeforePurchase.htm)

Thanks for that info! thats another thing, the engine has been replaced, he went from b18c2 to b18c7. will i need an engineers cert for that? even though the engines are in the same integra models?

No you do nt need engineers cert, all you need purchase receipt for the engine and the new engine should be unregistered from the old car.
