YES your engine will now blow up LOL.

nah you should be ok, if your 2k b4 your oil change - i would suggest to do the oil change now - peace of mind that you know u got the right stuff and it has been done.

dont wait for 2k before you change oil or waste money in topping up (as you mentioned its low on oil) ...

change it asap.

simple answer - its ok to mix oil as a matter of emergency top up before your next service, as long as your using the same SAE viscosity grades i.e. 10/40w castrol edge sports (existing) with top up 10-15/40-60w Penrite.

but do a service if i were you.

my rule of thumb is that everytime i buy a new/used car - first thing i do is change all fluid levels - regardless if they prev owner says "just changed" it etc.. (unless they have hard evidence / service report) that this has been done).

for my peace of mind. :)

Yeah just do a service, no point skimping on like $50 of engine oil

Yeah, like others said, you can easily switch across oils of different brands and also oils of different types (mineral, semi-synthetic and full synthetic, ester). Only a rare few such as a handful of racing oils shouldn't be mixed with oils with other types.
