Just recently bought my EP3 with 70 thou on the clock. I have a clunk/knock on hard shifts between gears. Car is fully stock btw.

I have read about clunks/knocks on the EP3 and research tells me it could be:

- swaybar endlinks
- engine mounts
- front strut mounts

My endlinks and mounts look fine as does my strut mounts.

Can someone please tell me some other things to check? Id like to fix this problem asap.

thanks guys.

Trav nice car. Got one myself !

Anyway - try this in this order.

Tighten the front lower control arm bolts ( 2 x either side) to around 108nm - these often come loose over time
Check REAR mount - usually broken gives a clunk at low speeds or hard shifting

hey.. i think i have the same problem aswell

i got my ep3 not too long ago as well, like 2months ago..

is it when you're changing gears, and sometimes it really hard to get in to gear?

the noise came from hard shifts, ie high speed/rpm but it was never 'tough' to get in gear.

does that make sense?

If that's the case, change your tranny fluid and see how you go. I'd recommend MTF06 from Honda.

Yeah pretty much. You could either diy it or take it to a mechanic if your lazy.

anyone know why it makes that squeaking sound?

or is it just one of the common problems that ep3's have?

Steering rack needs re-greasing. Very common problem on EP3.

does anyone here got the problem with the steering where its like a squeaking sound when they pull away from 1st gear..

while dirving normally, not lauching it and and ripping 1st gear.

coz i do, i happens sometimes as a drive off in 1st gear and sometimes while i change gears, it squeaks!

i took my car to hanny and told them about the steering thing and they said they fixed it. but the squeaking is still there so i assume the problem that i have is different from the steering problem while its a clicking sound while turning the steering wheel

help please?

Thanks

squeaking:
cheapest option roughly 60bucks or diy (phillip made one just search in 01 forum) is greasing your steering rack which normally overtime will need lubrication.

clicking:
i think check underneath your car or get robert to do it, else take it to rational automotive in long street smithfield and ask them to check the lca bolts sometimes it may need to be tightenned as i hear from the older members.

OMG!! can my car give me anymore shit!

went to start up my car yesterday in the afternoon, and when i started my car

heard a snap, like a spring braking sound on my clutch!

cant get into gear now! :(

is this gonna be expensive to get it repaired/replaced?

so now when i press on the clutch, there's resistance, so it very easily to step on!

problem solved with the clutch? sometimes it happens but if you cant get into gear or it slips then you'll need a new clutch lol

Most people just upgrade to a heavy duty one from Exedy. For more track oriented stuff there are companies like ORC.
