So I just finished installing my PWD JDM intake, and after all the hard work, I quadriple checked all connections as a lot of relocating lines including the valve sensor and solenoid and vtec solonoid was required. I then reset the ECU as I normally do after changing performance parts.

Then I went for a drive, once 3 bars on the temp gague showed up, I decided to got attempt to go to our favorite 9k range. As the revs climbed up, everything was as expected with more umph until I got to between 6-7k, I got the same feeling as though u would try to hit vtec when the engine is still cold. I tried again, and the same thing happened. Has anyone gOt a clue as to why this could be?

Just coz your water temp is at 3 bars, doesn't mean that you're car is warmed up straight away and enough to activate vtec yet. Did you try a little later after maybe 10-15 mins of driving around or so.
Also, vtec only activated at a certain amount of throttle (someone once said 70% from memory, I think a bit less, but you get the point).
Now go try again :)

So did VTEC kick in.. Or it didnt kick in..?? Basically was there a sound difference?
What dlai is saying can be true IF vtec didnt engage, if the engine is to cold blah blah, it would just feel plain, no kick, no sound difference. I dont think temperature is the problem.

op did u have like an injen/aem cai before this?

Yeah I let the car run for about 10 mins before. I tried again this morning, after driving for 20 mins granny shifting, I put the pedal down. It actually cuts exatly on 7k and as soon as that happens, I sensibly release the accelerator. I checked all lines and everything that was needed to be relocated again, and still couldn't find any loose hoses clamps or empty connections. I did also do a valve adjustment before I put in the intake, but before I insatlled it, I drove up to the shops, and was running fine.

@ LZYBUM, It was the stock airobox that I removed.

Ok, so I also tried revving in neutral, and still does not want to go past the 7k mark exactly.

Im wondering if a MAP what will do the trick...any suggestions?

Do u have enough oil in ur car?

Yep oil level is fine. Didn't know that oil levels could cause this kinda problem.

Oil level definitely affects vtec because it all depends on oil pressure (as well as engine temp, speed and throttle position).

So its like a false redline.. Any engine lights? Sounds like a vtec solenoid problem but i dont understand why it would happen after installing an intake. Why dont you reset the ECU and try again.

No engine lights at all. And after I did the map whack, I reset the ECU again, still the same occurence. I dont understand either. If you have a look on page 5 of this attachment, you can see at point 7, this is the only thing I did to the vtec sensor. I didnt unplug it at all, just moved its bolted location from one hole to another. It doesnt mke any sense to me how everything else, which involves only the air pump and air valve hose replacement/relocations and one radiator hose can effect the engine in such a way.

how olds your oil? evn tho its full it prbz fukd and it not got enough oil pressure for vtec to engage.

or you may need a new vtec solenoid gasket

-1. Problem fixed. Last night i removed the vtec sensor blew into it, plugged it back in and presto! 9k all the way.
Feels spectacular, the way vtec should feel. Thanks for all the suggestions and help to everyone!

Sounds amazing, revs up much quicker, and I can't explain how amazing vtec feels!

Not at all. I got it from PWD JDM directly from the US on s2ki. Best intake u can get in regards to reaping power, not for ease of installation or having space. Mind u, I have my whole exhaust system modified too so it makes it that much more rev happy. (J's header, Berks HFC & Greddy TiC dual)

I dont think I can elaborate on this any further. I literally removed the sensor from its plug, blew into it and the connection, plugged it back in, and bobs ur uncle.
