My fuel light comes on about 1mm from E... I would have travelled about 480-500kmand the fuel light means there's aboout 15l remaining...

I have always used bp ultimate... Never had an injector clean since 180k km...engine now has 260k...just make sure your servicing is up to date...

car only has 116k on it...serviced every 5-8000kms and im chugging fuel...maybe about 5-10 vtec hits a tank if im lucky and running on shell vpower and got a 200cell cat and catback...

vti-r mate
i think i could be running a little rich...however i have not touched any A/F ratios
its semi auto it kinda does with gear ratios...but it doesnt really feel slow.
when i revved my car the missus said a puff of black smoke came out the rear which is unused fuel being burnt off

ok so ur not excessive then.. As long as u dont wind up with an extremely black arse like me after 1000k's, then you're fine. PM me your email and i'll show u how black my number plate is.

burnt fuel can be smelt when vtec is engaged, not only by me, but by whoever is behind me too.

i think its mostly to do where I live!
the shallowest way up is still a 10% graded hill...steepest being 20%

curtis265
09-10-2011, 11:11 PM
20%! Fuark!

integragsi96
09-10-2011, 11:20 PM
yehh...the speed limit for that road is only 40kph so i just cruise in 2nd at 1/4 throttle....the 13% and 12% what i take everyday is 60kph and if you dont get the lights you have next to no run up for it. i changed out of first at 4200 and out of 2nd at 4000 at half throttle.
however its a pain in the arse paying for vpower 1.5 tanks a week

The BB6 fuel tank is 60L.
The fuel light comes on when 45L has been used.
At this point you have 15L left in your car.

Are you doing ACTUAL fuel consumption figures?

Fill tank
Reset trip meter
When empty fill tank again
Record K's traveled
Record fuel put in

Then the math is K's / Fuel

So you put 45 Liters in and you've traveled 400K's

400 / 45 = 8.8

So 8.8 K's per liter of fuel.

My apologies if you already know how to do this but so many people just have no clue.

other way around. you fill up 45 litres...but only travelled 400km....you fuel consumption is 11.25L/100km

I fill before the light comes on. I fill on average 38 litres. So im guessing 350-400 is ok for that then!
I thought I only had a 50 ltr tank.
Hmm ill run it till the fuel light comes on and ill see what I get!

Mine is right, I just run off K/L rather then L/100K

I think I am to used to my old DC4 where i could give it heaps and still had fuel. example I had a full tank when I took my car for some "happy lap" (everyone went for it) for 30mins and still had over half a tank of fuel left!
I am pretty sure if I did this in my BB6 that id have like 1/3 left or less.

My BB4 had the H22A from the BB6's, I could drive from my town to sydney (roughly about 400km give or take 20km) and I would be left with about 1/4 of the tank left.

when i do 350-400 i have just under a 1/4 tank left.
i use vpower

I can't wait to see how my BB6 H22A goes in my stripped out civic for fuel economy... but I'm pretty sure the aggressive tune it has is gonna make it pretty terrible.
And yeah I fill mine up with nothing but 98.

shouldnt do too bad as there is less weight. having said that it all comes down to how much fuel your dumping!
i live in a very hilly area. probs why im chugging the fuel

If your having fuel issues, reset ecu, also replace your 02 sensor in the exhaust.

I get atleast 500 kms easy to a tank a fuel, thats with a little bit of vtec here and there.

well ive just put 7 octane booster in the car with vpower 98 fuel so that should clean but the next tank will get some fuel injector clean! if it is still bad then ill do a ecu reset but unpluging the negative off the battery for 10-15 mins then let the car run after it for another 10-15 then go for a 30min drive somewhere for it to relearn.
