So. I managed to blow my a clutch. Put a new gearbox and clutch in yesterday, now the speedo doesn't work, constantly have a check engine light and vtec won't kick over at all. Any suggestions on what it might be? Tis a b16a1. Didn't have any problems before the swap. Except for the obvious my clutch not working. Hopefully taking all the connections off and cleaning them tonight.
Check your vss "vehicle speed sensor" pretty sure google images can give you a good idea where it is. Hope that helps

What's the chances of a stuffed vss triggering a cel?
Well its a sensor and its not giving.you any signs of speed and revs. Vtec needs this to work to be able to work or the computer doesnt know what rpm its gonna engage
It'll be your speed sensor mate. Had the same issue with my old b16a2 crx. If you look on top of the gearbox on the left side of the engine bay there should be a metal thing with a few bolts and a plug coming off it. The speed sensor is a magnetized part, and after time it loses it's magnetism. Can get a new one from Honda for about 150. I replaced mine and it fixed vtec engagement and all gauges

ECU will not allow VTEC engagment until 30KPH
check your ECU for codes and fix your VSS
