hey guys quick question. raising the redline to 8800 on a stock dc5 apart from bolt ons(i/h/e no cams, head etc. good idea?

It could probably handle it for a little while but youd be doing damage in the long term. Especially if youre bouncing off the 8800 cutout all day, and if its tuned for regular pump fuel. the dc5rs in japan have a higher redline because their fuel is better than the shit we have here so it can handle the 8300 cutout. But if you look at the dyno sheet of a stockish k20a, the power curve starts to flatten out at 8000rpm, so raising to 8800 wouldnt get you any extra power. just risk damage to the engine. Gotta look into internals if you want to raise the redline. Honda set it at 7900 for a reason.
